Southwest Guilford Cowgirls name Jessica Pone as their new Head Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach

Southwest Guilford High School has hired Jessica Pone as Head Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach.

Jessica graduated from SW Guilford HS in 2012 and played under Jessica Bryan. Coach Pone was a member of the 2011 4A State Champions team where she was recognized as MVP of the game.

During her time as a Cowgirl player, Jessica was all-conference twice, Sheetz Holiday Classic MVP, WXII Player of the Week, and played in the 2012 NCCA East West All-Star Game. She also was part of three conference championship teams.

Jessica played her college basketball at Campbell University graduating in a 2016 with a degree in Homeland and Information Technology Security. In 2017 Jessica returned to SW Guilford as an assistant coach under former Coach Nick Scarborough. Jessica currently works for USPS Shared Service Center.

Jessica states, “ I am a Cowgirl through and through. Becoming the head coach has given me an amazing opportunity to be involved with the game I love, but most importantly, to give back to the young student-athletes of my Alma Mater. This is a full circle moment for me because I see myself in so many of the girls; some of them do not know their potential yet, and to be able to witness that spark and the growth in them the same way my coaches, Jessica Bryan, Nicholas Scarborough and Samuel Warren did, is my honor. I can’t wait to continue growing the Southwest Legacy.”
