Final from Wednesday afternoon at L.P. Frans Stadium, in Hickory, N.C.:
Hickory Crawdads 6, Greensboro Grasshoppers 2
WP:Josh Stephan(6-3)/LP:Po-Yu Chen(3-5)

Crawdads-6-8-0
Hoppers- 2-2-2

Greensboro Grasshoppers(37-31)
Hickory Crawdads(32-34)

A two-run home run by the Greensboro Grasshoppers Ernny Ordonez accounted for all of the Hoppers scoring, when Ordonez homered to right field, scoring Brenden Dixon on base in front of Ordonez, and with those two runs coming in the top of the sixth inning, that was it for the Hoppers hits, and for their scoring, on Wednesday afternoon…

By the time they scored those two runs, the Grasshoppers were already down 5-0 to the ‘Dads…Hickory with a solo HR from Abimelec Ortiz in the second inning, and then it was four more runs from the Crawdads in the fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Daniel Mateo..A fielding error by the Hoppers Brenden Dixon got things rolling for the ‘Dads in the fourth…

Lots of hits going to right field today, and Hickory added one more run in the sixth inning, when Mateo drove in Ortiz, with a Mateo single to right field of all places, and that would seal the deal, and give the Hickory Crawdads their eighth straight victory/win, as they top the Greensboro Grasshoppers for the second game in a-row at L.P. Frans Stadium….Eight consecutive wins now for the ‘Dads….

The Grasshoppers walked three times and they struck out 16 times at the plate, on this Wednesday, in Hickory…Just those two hits for the Hoppers on this day, with the single from Dixon, and the home run by Ordonez…Ordonez goes 1-2/HR/BB/2 RBI…Best line of the day for the Hoppers, right there by Ordonez…Dixon was 1-2/BB/Run…Tough afternoon/day, when the guys that got your only two hits, also grabbed two of your three walks…The other walk on the day went to the Hoppers’ catcher, Eli Wilson…Three Hoppers baserunners in this contest…Ordonez, Dixon, and Wilson…

Hard day on the hill for the Grasshoppers starting pitcher, Po-Yu Chen, who gave up all six of the ‘Dads runs, on seven hits, with Chen walking three batters and striking out six, and he gave up a home run…One point on Chen, he did work long, giving the Hoppers 6 2/3’s innings, after going seven innings in his last start, and that was last week at First National Bank Field…Also, of the six runs that Chen gave up, only three were earned….Jack Carey came on to work the last 1 1/3 innings for Greensboro, and Carey allowed one hit, and struck out one batter, and that was it for him….

Quick Count for the Crawdads:They got a double from Acosta, a triple from Mateo, and a home run from Ortiz, and it was HR #10 of the year for Ortiz…Mateo was 2-3/3 RBI, and catcher Cody Freeman went 2-4/Run/RBI, then Ortiz was going 1-2/HR/2 BB’s/3 Runs…’Dads starting pitcher Josh Stephan was red hot on Wednesday afternoon, and he was almost untouchable, as he worked five frames/innings, allowing NO Runs, NO Hits, NO BB’s, and Stephan struck out Ten(10) Hopper batters…
