Crawdads-5-13-0
Hoppers- 2- 1-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(37-34)
Hickory Crawdads(34-34)

The Greensboro Grasshoppers get dealt a one-hitter, and that one hit was a two-run Home Run, by the Hoppers’ Shawn Ross…The homer by Ross came in the second inning, scoring both Ross and Wyatt Hendrie…Doesn’t say in any game reports how Hendrie reached base, but we are guessing that he struck out swinging and took first base when the ball got away from the Hickory catcher, Cody Freeman, or it may be that Freeeman allowed Hendrie to reach on Freeman’s catcher’s interference….

When Shawn Ross hit his home run, it cut the Hickory 4-0 lead to just 4-2, but Hickory added one more run, but the Hoppers were shut out the rest of the way…Hickory picked up their 4 big early runs, back in the first inning…The ‘Dads got home runs from both Abimelec Ortiz and Cody Freeman in the forceful first inning for Hickory…A 4-0 lead the Grasshoppers could never recover from, but the Hoppers did draw walks by Jase Bowen, Shawn Ross, and Luke Brown…But the Hoppers were one-hit, and this will go down as one of their quietest nightst of the 2023 season, at the plate…

The ‘Dads Winston Santos, Seth Clark, and Spencer Mraz combined to stifle the Hopper hitters, with Santos and Mraz workin together to strike out ten(10) Hoppers on the night…The Crawdads’ Santos worked 6 1/3 innngs and he gave up the two Greensboro runs, on the one Hopper hit, and that was the two-run HR by Shawn Ross…

The Greensboro Grasshoppers’ pitching staff was taking things to the extremes, as they gave up the five runs, but those five tallies came on 13 big Hickory hits, but the Hopper hurlers also struck out ten(10) Hickory hitters…Three innings, with 4 runs on 9 hits, plus 0 BB/5 K’s for the Grasshoppers’ starting pitcher Bubba Chandler…The big stick in the side of Chandler were the Home Runs, that Abimelec Ortiz and Cody Freeman hit off of Chandler, in that treacherous first inning…

We gave you what the big sticks of Ortiz and Freeman were doing for Hickory, and they also had Alejandro Osuna going 3-4/Double/Run from his leadoff spot, in the Crawdads’ batting order…As the Crawdads scored just five runs, they ended up going 2-9 with Runners in Scoring Position, and the ‘Dads left 7 men on base…

Hickory now with Ten(10) consecutive wins, and the ‘Dads have now grabbed four straight wins from the visiting Grasshoppers this week…Hoppers now with five losses in a-row for them…
