Final from Tuesday night, at First National Bank Field:
Greensboro Grasshoppers 8, Aberdeen Ironbirds 5
WP:Yunior Thibo(2-1)/LP:Carson Carter(2-2)
Hoppers-8-7-0 IronBirds- 5-8-4
Greensboro Grasshoppers(38-36)
Aberdeen Ironbirds(38-36)
Those four errors by the ‘Birds proved to be big…Two of those four errors allowed the Hoppers to grab their early 3-0 lead over Aberdeen…Po-Yu Chen and Ernny Ordonez earned out Steak n Shake Player of the Game honors…Chen went 7 innings as the Hoppers’ starting pitcher, and he gave up two runs, on five hits, with 2 BB/7 K’s…We believe this is the third time Chen has gone at least seven innings in a ballgame this season….Ordonez was 2-3/BB at the plate, with two runs and two RBI/SB…Ordonez tied the game up at 5-5 in the eighth inning, and this is the frame where the Hoppers pushed across three more runs, and Greensboro went on to win the game, 8-5, to snap the Hoppers seven-game losing streak…Greensboro scored a total of five runs, and the home team batted around in that edge-grabbing eighth inning…
Mike Jarvis moved into the leadoff spot Tuesday night, and he went 1-5, with a bunt single…Tres Gonzalez was 1-3/BB, and two runs scored…Jase Bowen got it going, as he went 2-4/Double/2 Runs…Shawn Ross was 0-3/BB/Run..Big Will Matthiessen goes 1-4/Run/RBI…Sammy Siani went 0-2/BB/SAC Fly RBI…
After the strong start by the Grasshoppers Po-Yu Chen, the Hoppers’ pen did not have the stop sign up tonight, as Cy Nielson and Jake Stevenson only lasted a third of an inning each, and so did Yunior Thibo, but Thibo got his work done on the right side of the line, and he was able to pick up the win….Both the Grasshoppers and the ‘Birds were able to bat around in that LONG eighth inning, but the Grasshoppers were able to cash in with five runs in the eighth, while the ‘Birds could only come up with three tallies/runs…Michell Miliano did get his stop sign up just in time, as finished off the ‘Birds in the top of the ninth inning, to earn his first Save of the Season..Nothing but zeros from Miliano in his finishing frame, with 0 Runs/Hits/Walks, or K’s….
The Hoppers get the win, and they put an end to that losing skid…”It was just like Dorothy said”…Fhe Greensboro Grasshoppers were back in town, and they found, that there is “No Place Like Home”….Seven straight losses for the Hoppers, as they headed back into town…
The Beeg Man for the ‘Birds on this night was, Silas Ardoin…He was the big man, going 2-2, with Two Home Runs, one to RF, and one the other way, to LF…2-2/2 HR’s/2 BB/2 RBI/2 Runs…There was a run on two’s in this game for Ardoin…The ‘Birds starting pitcher, Trace Bright went 5 innings, giving up three runs, on three hits, with one BB/5 K’s….
