Grasshoppers Drop 11-7 Against the IronBirds Thursday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped 11-7 against the Aberdeen IronBirds on Thursday, July 6. The IronBirds improved to 8-4 on the second half of the season while the Grasshoppers moved to 2-10. Aberdeen outhit Greensboro 14-8 with one IronBirds mishap.

Leading at the plate for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Tres Gonzalez as he went 2-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and one run scored. Will Matthiessen and Jase Bowen also recorded home runs for Greensboro while Maikol Escotto tallied a triple and Brenden Dixon a double.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Bubba Chandler who tallied six strikeouts and gave up nine hits, five runs, and three free bases on 5.1 innings of work. Ryan Harbin took the loss and a blown save for the Grasshoppers for his first of the season.

Reese Sharp recorded the win for the IronBirds and improved to 3-2 on the season.
