Greensboro Grasshoppers(39-39)
Aberdeen IronBirds(41-37)

This was not the Greensboro Grasshoppers night, and that would qualify as an understatement..The Aberdeen IronBirds, from Aberdeen, Maryland, with two runs in the first inning, five runs in the third inning, four runs in the seventh inning, and then five more runs for the ‘Birds in the ninth inning…It got so tough that the Greensboro Grasshoppers turned to position player, Brenden Dixon, to come into the game and take over on the pitcher’s mound, and Dixon was out there to record the last out in the top of the ninth inning, and Dixon did his job, by getting Aberdeen’s Max Wagner to pop up to Dixon just in front of the mound, and Dixon pulled the pop-up in as the home team pitcher, and the ‘Birds were done on offesne for the game..

For the game, the IronBirds came up with Five doubles, a Triple, and two Home Runs…The ‘Birds got a Grand Slam home run from Isaac DeLeon, plus the IronBirds had a three-run Home Run, coming in by Kyle Stowers……Collin Burns had a big Triple for the IronBirds…Several ‘Birds had multiple hits, with Kyle Stowers going 5-6, with 3 runs scored, and three runs driven in…Isaac Stowers goes 4-5/3 Runs/4 RBI..

The Hoppers pitching staff walked 12 Bird batters, while the ‘Birds bunch only gave up four walks to the Hopper hitters…The Greensboro Grasshoppers ended up leaving 12 men on base, and the Hoppers were 1-10 with men in scoring position..The IronBirds were 7-18 with runners in scoring position…In the ‘Birds half of the seventh inning, the Hoppers’ pitcher Yunior Thibo, walked back-to-back-to-back ‘Bird batters…The Grand Slam off of the bat of the ‘Birds Isaac DeLeon, was a back-breaker for the Grashoppers…The Kyle Stowers three-run HR also cleaned the Hoppers’ clocks…

Our Greensboro Grasshopper Steak n Shake Players of the Game were Tres Gonzalez and Maikol Escotto…Gonzalez went 2-4/BB/SB…Escotto goes 2-4/Run…That is four of the Greensboro Grasshoppers six hits right there at you….Also for the Grasshoppers, Sammy Siani was 1-4, plus Mike Jarvis was 1-4/BB…Jase Bowen was going around with a target on his back, as the Hoppers power hitter showed his bat to those willing listen to him, with his advantage being his two trips on base, with Bowen being hit by a pitch twice in this game..Eli Wilson also reached base safely once, when he was hit by an IronBird pitch…

The Hoppers’ pitching staff used seven different pitchers, and Brenden Dixon, the position player who came on to pitch, and close out the game, was the only Hopper pitcher in this contest, who did not give up a run..The IronBirds’ relief pitcher, Juan Nunez, worked four innings, and he gave up 0 Runs, on 2 Hits, with 3 BB’s/6 K’s…Very strong work from Nunez, as he came into the game with an ERA of 11.05 and got it down to 7.15, with his four complete innings on the hill today/tonight…

The ‘Birds starting pitcher, Daniel Lloyd, worked five innings, allowing 1 run, on four hits, with one walk, and six big strikeouts…

In the ballgame, the ‘Bird pitcher Daniel Lloyd hit one Hopper batter, Jase Bowen; while the reliever for the IronBirds, Juan Nunez, hit Bowen and Eli Wilson…
