Three HiToms selected in the MLB draft
The HiToms would like to congratulate Jake Bloss, Justin Johnson, and Will Verdung for being selected in the 2023 MLB draft.
Jake Bloss was picked 99th overall by the Houston Astros. The Greensboro native spent three seasons with the HiToms (2020-2022) and played his collegiate career at Georgetown and Lafayette. In his final year at Georgetown the ace was named ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American and Collegiate baseball Newspaper Second Team All-American. And had an ERA at 2.10 with 73 innings pitched.
Justin Johnson was selected 289th overall by the Kansas City Royals. Johnson grew up in Glen Gardner, NJ, and attendedLafayette before transferring to Wake Forest.
Current HiTom Will Verdung was selected 399 overall by the Atlanta Braves. Verdung was recently picked to represent HPT in this year’s Coastal Plan League All-Star game.
