Bowling Green Hot Rods 10, Greensboro Grasshoppers 3
WP:Colby White(1-0)/LP:Bubba Chandler(7-4)
Hot Rods-10-9-0 Hoppers- 3- 9-0
Greensboro Grasshoppers(57-50)
Bowling Green Hot Rods(58-46)
Four home runs from the Bowling Green Hots Rods was just too much for the Greensboro Grasshoppers to overcome on Wednesday night, at First National Bank Field…
Bowling Green got solo HR’s from Willy Vasquez and Nick Schnell, and they went long, back-to-back in the sixth inning…Brock Jones had come up with a two-run HR in the third inning for the Hot Rods..Then to blow the lid off of the game, Dominic Keegan blasted a Grand Slam home run to left field, in top of the ninth inning…
With all of those homers, the Hoppers felt left out, sort of like Homer Simpson, but the home team did still come up with 9 hits, but no Long Balls from the Greensboro Grasshoppers on this night…Chicks like the Long Ball and Hopper fans do too, but there were none to found on Wednesday…Three doubles for the Hoppers, but it all was not still enough, as the Rods got the runs, and the Rods got the key big hits…..
Hopper hitters:Tres Gonzalez 0-2/2 BB’s/RBI…Jack Brannigan 2-5…Josiah Sightler 0-4/RBI…Jase Bowen 1-4/SB…Termarr Johnson 0-3/BB…Shawn Ross 1-4/Double…Francisco Acuna 1-4/Double/Run…Luke Brown 2-4/2 Runs/SB…Brenden Dixon 2-4/Double…
*********The Grasshoppers getting six of their nine hits from the bottom four spots in their batting order, all three Hopper runs come from 6-9 in the order…Last four spots going 6-16, with three Doubles, all three Hopper runs and overall, 6-9 towing the line on Wednesday at FNB Field…**********
Hoppers pitching gave up the four home runs, plus they walked seven Hot Rods, and only struck out nine Rods…Rods pitching staff with three walks and thirteeen(13) K’s…
The Grasshoppers’ starting pitcher Bubba Chandler went six innings, giving up five runs on four hits, with four walks and five K’s, and Bubba Chandler gave up three home runs to the Hot Rods…Hoppers reliever Eddy Yean came on for new pitcher Julian Bosnic from the bullpen, and with the bases loaded, Yean surrendered a Grand Slam/Salami to Bowling Green’s Dominic Keegan, with Keegan, Blake Robertson, Shane Sasaki, and Brock Jones all scoring on Keegan’s clout…
The Greensboro Grasshoppers grabbed a 3-2 lead over the Bowling Green Hots Rods in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the lead was short-lived, as the Rods got rolling again quickly, by posting three runs in the top of the sixth inning, to go up 6-3, and the Hot Rods were ahead to stay….Final again was, Hot Rods 10, Greensboro Grasshoppers 3……
*********More solid defense tonight by Jack Brannigan, at shotrtstop for the Grasshoppers…He made plays going back deep in the hole at SS, and Brannigan is making it look smooth, and easy, as he keeps on getting the big outs, and making the key plays for the Hoppers defense….**********
