UNCG Men’s Soccer in Top 25 in Two Polls
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team received a No. 15 ranking from TopDrawerSoccer and No. 24 from College Soccer News this week.
The Spartans hosted Pac-12 opponent, the California Golden Bears, for the first time in program history for their season opener. The two teams battled it out for a 1-1 draw after two long weather delays Thursday night into early Friday morning at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
UNCG then faced its first ranked opponent of the season in then-ranked No. 14 Maryland falling 2-0 on the road at Ludwig Field.
The Spartans host Louisville this Friday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Last season, UNCG traveled to Louisville where the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in late September. The Cardinals were the Spartans’ first ranked opponent in the 2022 season.
Louisville is currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. They are now No. 29 in the College Soccer News poll. The Cardinals opened the 2023 season with a 1-0 shutout against No. 16 Tulsa at home.
