GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped the first game of its home series against the Hickory Crawdads, 11-3 on Tuesday, August 31. The Crawdads improved to 35-19 in the second half of the season while the Grasshoppers fell to 27-27. Hickory outhit Greensboro 12-6 as the Grasshoppers had three mishaps.
Leading at the plate for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Jase Bowen as he went 3-5 with a home run, one double, one RBI, and one run scored. Luke Brown and Brenden Dixon also recorded a double for the Grasshoppers.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Derek Diamond as he tallied four strikeouts and gave up seven hits, two earned runs, and one free base on six innings of work. Julian Bosnic took the loss for the Grasshoppers and fell to 1-1 on the season.
Yohanse Morel recorded the win for the Crawdads and improved to 5-1 on the season.
The Grasshoppers are back in action at home against the Hickory Crawdads tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30.
