Three Big Bombs coming from Greensboro Grasshoppers, Josiah Sightler(3-Run home run), Brenden Dixon, and Luke Brown…Dixon and Brown with solo HRs…Also on Wednesday night, two outstanding laid down at second base, by Hopper Termarr Johnson…Johnson showing tag skills we don’t see that oftne from the young infielders…Johnson has the touch, the swipe tag, and get down and lay it on the runner approach…Steak n Shake Player of the Game for this game, goes to Termarr Johnson, for his defensive work at second base in this game vs. the Hickory Crawdads….Let’s add Luke Brown to our Steak n Shake Player of the Game list…A home run, and a double, busy night for Luke Brown…

Let’s hear it for the defense from Johnson and other Hoppers, with starting pitcher Thomas Harrington really getting the job done, and limiting the Crawdad damage, all night long…Harrington going and towing six full innnings on the rubber, giving up one run, on three hits, with three walks and five strikeouts…Solid outing for Tom, still throwing and going hard, here late in the season….Solid relief from middle reliever Jack Carey, and from Closer/Finisher Ryan Harbin showing some of his best stuff ever, and Harbin getting it done, but it does require players to hit their stride now that they are playing all week long…

Grasshoppers Take Down the Crawdads, 6-2 on Wednesday Evening

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers take down the Hickory Crawdads, 6-2 on Wednesday, August 30. The Grasshoppers improved to 28-27 in the second half of the season while the Crawdads fell to 35-20. Greensboro outhit Hickory 13-7 while the Crawdads had two mishaps to the Grasshoppers one.

Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was outfielder Luke Brown as he went 2-5 with a home run, a double, one RBI, and one run scored. Home runs for Greensboro were also tallied by Josiah Sightler, and Brenden Dixon. Brannigan and Bowen also tallied doubles for the Grasshoppers.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Thomas Harrington as he tallied five strikeouts and gave up three hits, one earned run, and three free bases on six innings of work. Harrington recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and improved to 3-5 on the season. Jack Carey recorded the hold for his eighth of the season while Ryan Harbin tallied his first save.

Winston Santons took the loss for the Crawdads and fell to 7-9 on the season.

The Grasshoppers are back in action at home against the Hickory Crawdads tomorrow, Thursday, August 31. Come out to First National Bank Field for Thirsty Thursday at the Hoppers game.
