WR Steven Murray(Eastern Guilford HS) gets offer from Appalachian State Mountaineers

Appalachian State University has extended a verbal scholarship offer to Eastern Guilford High School junior Steven Murray. It is Murray’s third offer.

He shared the news to his X account on Sunday.

The junior stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs a 160 pounds. He has reportedly run a 40-yard dash in the 4.4s. He is considered a 3-star athlete and is ranked as the No. 11 class of 2025 player in the state by Rivals.

Murray’s first offer came from Charlotte in March and he added one from Coastal Carolina a week ago.

As a sophomore, Murray made the HSOT All-State Football Team as an honorable mention two-way player. He finished with 39 receptions for 778 yards and 12 touchdowns on offense, with a kickoff return touchdown and punt return touchdown on special teams, and 36 tackles, three interceptions, seven pass breakups, and fumble recovery on defense.

After Eastern Guilford advanced to the fourth round in last year’s 3A playoffs, the Wildcats are off to a 3-1 start in 2023.

Murray is currently averaging 117.3 receiving yards and two touchdowns per game. He also has 10 tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups so far.
