Hunter Riffey, (SO) a Cross Country Runner at Caldwell Academy recently set a new school
record in the 5,000 M (3.1 miles) & has since broken his own record twice. The old record
of 16:34.00 was set in 2014 at the Foot Locker Southern Regional by Landon Smith .
Hunter set the new record of 16:28.6 on September 8, 2023 at the Friday Night Lights Festival,
Ivy Redmon Sports Complex, Kernersville, NC in the Open Division, third (3rd) place finish.. At the Adidas
XC Invitational, Cary, NC held on September 16, he broke his own record with a new time of 16:26.0 in the
Challenge Division first (1st) place finish. One week later, September 23, 2023 at the Hare & Hounds
XC Invitational, McAlpine Park, Charlotte in the Open Division ,first (1st) place finish, he established the
new current record of 16:14.9. .
