High School Football Saturday Morning Rewind with lots of good football left to be played, but just Four Fridays in October left, and better ‘smell the roses’, because the Regular Season is “Really Rolling”!!!!!

You look up, you turn around, and you tell yourself you better stop and smell the roses, because we already have 7 weeks of high school football in our rearview mirror…We only have four weeks left in the 2023 regular season…This season is fast-moving past us, and you want to take it all in, you better have some of those GreensboroSports Radio taped games saved on your cell phone, and you better mark down these Football Friday for October, with Friday the 6th, the good ole 13th, the 20th, and the 27th, because pretty soon, we’ll be talking baseball in June(2024)…

Friday, TGIF/Thank God It’s Friday, that song is almost gone, and before you know it we will find Connie Chong, on her way home to Hong Kong, and Ricky Wong will be playing Donkey Kong instead of Ping Pong, but ole Ange, you me, ANDY knows this is the Saturday Morning Rewind, and it is time to roll the tapes…And here we go…It’s time for Hoss, Adam, and Little Joe, to step in and take over the show…

To kick off our Saturday morning program we go to Clara Goodwin, Danny Harnden, and Kevin Connolly from FOX 8 with the Friday Football Frenzy…They are the first show to hit the air on Fridays, and that is why we give them top-billing each week here….They had that great film clip of the athletic freak Kordell Bartley taking it “The House” for the Dudley Panthers last night, and with KB/Bartley, The Amazing Race is always on fast forward…

CLICK HERE for Kordell Bartley running like the REO Speedwagon, or moving like Earth, Wind, and Fireahhhh….

They used to have the audio clip, where the guy was saying “I Got The Fever”, and we have it too…The FRIDAY FOOTBALL FEVER crew, from News 2…With Amanda Ferguson, Jaylen Gilkey, Chad Silber, and little Sydney Moore, and Sydney Moore is getting more and more better every week at this football gig…There’s nothing shady about that young lady and her football footage….Fairly tall lady too, that Sydney Moore…

Now over to John Johnson and the Friday Night High School Football Playbook, from WXII TV 12, and I did not see one second of their work last night, because usually as soon as The Fever breaks, I am breaking out my computer, and striking the keys, for the cause….But John John is ready to get it on, and let’s let him sing his song from Page One of the High School Football Songbook/Playbook….

And we can always do this another way too…As the man said in the movie, and I don’t remember who The Man was, but he said, “We can do this the easy way, or The Hard Way, and which way do you prefer?”….I am just a pure glutton for punishment, so what do you say we go back and listen to me and my one-horse plow team, as we bring you last night’s Northwest Guilford at Page game, on Homecoming 2023, from Walter Hines Page High School, on Alma Pinnix Drive…
CLICK HERE for GreensboroSports Radio……….AD, from the P-A-G-E…You can also hear Demetri Morrison with Northern Guilford at Southwest Guilford, on this same GreensboroSports Radio click, just select GreensboroSports Radio 2, when you get there….And these two broadcasts would make for a great scouting report for next Friday night, with Northwest Guilford at Northern Guilford coming up…CLICK HERE for GreensboroSports Radio….

Williams stuns No. 15 Eastern Alamance thanks to late two-point conversion
The Bulldogs opted to go for the win — not the tie — late against the Eagles. A clutch two-point conversion gave them a 36-35 win in Central 3A Conference play.

from Clark Gerber , HighSchoolOT contributor…That’s at WRALSportsFan.com and their HS OT site….www.wralsportsfan.com

Williams never led No. 15 Eastern Alamance on Friday night… until it counted the most.

The Bulldogs turned down an extra point that would have tied the game with 1:29 to play, opting to go for two and the win instead.

The gamble paid off.

Senior running back Haneef Rasheed II gathered in a swing pass on the pivotal two-point play. He won the race to the pylon as Williams held on for the upset, 36-35.

Moments earlier, it was also Rasheed who put the Bulldogs in position to make their gutsy two-point call.

As mentioned, No. 15 Eastern Alamance did hold the lead for most of the game.

Anticipated Forest Hills-Monroe matchup called due to substantial fan fights
The game was called with Monroe winning 28-0.

from Joel Bryant , HSOT Sr. Football & Recruiting Editor, with HS OT and WRALSportsFan.com/www.wralsportsfan.com

A large series of fights in the concourse of Monroe High School Stadium led to a suspension of play and ultimately a cancellation of the game between Forest Hills High School and the Redhawks.

The brawls broke out on the home side of the concourse between the stadium seating and the facility’s concessions/restrooms buildings. Concerned fans away from the fights rapidly poured out of the stands while both football teams sprinted to the field house locker rooms on the opposite side of the facility.

After a conference between Union County Public Schools leaders, law enforcement, the athletic directors, and the coaches, the game was officially called with 5:24 remaining in the fourth quarter. Monroe won the contest by a score of 28-0. The game will not be resumed.

School officials were concerned about the players having to come back out on the field and perform after the tense moments that interrupted the contest.

The stadium was packed with fans from across Union County. This matchup was the most anticipated game of the year for both schools as both programs have put out their best teams in recent memory.

Forest Hills entered the game with a perfect 5-0 record while Monroe entered with a 4-1 record. Monroe’s only loss came to a 3A West Charlotte team in non-conference play. Both Forest Hills and Monroe are 2A classification teams that play in the Rocky River 2A/3A Conference.

**********That 3-A West Charlotte team may pose a real threat to our Greensboro/Guilford County teams in the 3-A West, like Dudley, Eastern Guilford, and others….**********

  1. I think you mean Bryce Davis from Grimsley. Bryce Young is the No. 1 bust from the draft by the Panthers.

  2. Good point from Reality Czech, and I thought I must have been sleeping on my Saturday Morning Rewind shift, so I decided to go back and check my source for this copy and paste, and my source was NCPreps.com and here is what they had and still have up on the front page of their site….

    10
    Bryce Young
    OLB
    Notre Dame
    4/29/23
    VERBAL

Even though, with that being said, it does pay to double-check/double-Czech all copy….

Andy knowing today is a day to be on the move, and the move is to the Edit key on my coumputer….Thanks Reality Czech…

  3. You were right Andy, There’s a Bryce Young that attends Charlotte Christian. Besides Bryce Davis wouldn’t be on this list anyways because he’s not in the 24’ class.
