One heck of game last Friday night with Northwest Guilford knocking off Page, 14-7, in the last minute of the game…One of those Games of the Week, Games of the Month, and Games of the Year Candidates…We were just one minute and five seconds away from Overtime in that high school football game….
Last month we had Western Alamance over Eastern Guilford, 26-20, in Overtime….It was one of those Games of the Week, Games of the Month, and Games of the Year, all rolled into one…
Then tonight, Northwest Guilford and Northern Guilford battled to a 14-14 tie in regulation play, and then they butted heads in Overtime, with NWG coming out of there the Winner, 20-14…Tonight, it was, “There goes that Man Again”, as these two arch-rivals Northwest and Northern were in a fight to the finish…
In OT at Northern Guilford’s Johnny Roscoe Stadium, you had the clap and then the snap to Tanner Ballou, and Tanner handed the ball off to Malique Jones, and on the first NWG play from scrimmage in Overtime, Jones runs the 10 yards in five flat, and that is that, with NWG winning this slugfest, 20-14…Northwest was more experienced than NG, and the age difference/big game difference took its toll on NG in OT…
Northwest going to Northern Guilford and leaving out with the Overtime victory, that game was another one of those Game of the Week, Game of the Month, and Game of the Year Candidates….

At the Johnny Roscoe Stadium, “Home of the Northern Guilford Nighthawks”, it was Northwest Guilford that scored first blood, with Malique Jones crossing the goal line, from eleven yards away…The PAT Kick by Nate Wallace was good, and the score was NWG 7, NG 0…..4:26 First Quarter, and NWG has that early, 7-0 lead…

Northwest Guilford hits the field, and the Vikings call Malique Jones’ number on the first play from scrimmage from the 10-yard line, and Jones rumbles up field and into the end zone, for a Northern Guilford touchdown…One play and everyone is walking away, with nothing to say, but NWG 20, NG 14 in OT….That was it baby, and this slugfest was over…The schools had battled it all out over the past seven days, and now the verdict was in, NWG wins on the road, at Northern Guilford…..
