Pride Couldn’t Ground Hawks
Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro College Pride football team faced a challenging battle at Pride Field as they took on the formidable Huntingdon College Hawks. Unfortunately, the Pride couldn’t muster much against the Hawks’ defense, falling short with a final score of 56-8.
Running back Tareek Smith did his best to contribute, racking up 91 yards on 12 carries. Rodney Scott added 33 more yards, bringing the team’s total rushing yardage to 134.
The lone touchdown of the game for the Pride came from a heroic effort on the defensive side of the ball. Michael Forney managed to scoop up a fumble and took it all the way for a Pride score.
Defensively, the Pride showed glimpses of determination. Max Steele led the charge with an impressive total of 13 tackles, highlighting his tenacity on the field. Tyler Alston was not far behind with 12 tackles, and William Paithorpe added to the defensive effort with 10 tackles and a crucial forced fumble. Keysean McCarr also contributed with a forced fumble of his own, showing that the Pride’s defense had moments of resilience.
While it was a challenging day for the Pride, they are determined to bounce back in their next matchup. The men will be on the road when they face Southern Virginia University on October 28th in Buena Vista, VA, with the kickoff set for 1:00 PM. The team will be looking to regroup and bring their A-game as they strive for a better result in their upcoming contest.
