UNCG Men’s Soccer Dominates VMI, 6-2, in Regular Season Finale

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team saw three different goal scorers in a 6-2 victory over The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe VMI Saturday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium in the regular season finale.

Arnaud Tattevin registered his first hat trick of his collegiate career, while Nabil Homssa scored two goals and Emmanuel Hagan chipped in one during the Spartans’ first SoCon victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans scored three of their six goals in the first half. At 9:33, after an initial shot from Keanan Bader that hit the crossbar, Homssa was there to head back the rebound for a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Basile Marc slipped the ball through the Keydets defense finding Tattevin for the one-timer into the back of the net at 15:48.

Five minutes before the half, Ethan Conley set up for a free kick. Following the kick, Hagan traced the ball and headed it home for a 3-0 advantage.

Homssa and Tattevin scored their second goals of the game within eight minutes of eachother during the second half. Conley fed Homssa the ball and at 50:46, the Spartans extended their lead to four. At 58:52, Colton Sessoms sent a low cross from the right side of the 18-yard box to Tattevin, who split the defenders for a 5-0 lead.

VMI cut the deficit to three following goals from Zacharia Bouchachia and Jack Miller at 76:17 and 88:08, respectively.

The Spartans were able to put one more goal on the board, as Tattevin completed his impressive day, scoring from about 35 yards out to give UNCG a 6-2 victory at 89:02.

The Spartans will await their fate in the 2023 SoCon Tournament. The tournament quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be played at two sites. The championship will be played at the highest remaining seed. The tournament will be played from November 3-11.
