UNCG Women’s Tennis Set to Take on Liberty Invite

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s tennis team will continue its fall slate by heading to Lynchburg, Va., for the Liberty Invite from Friday, Nov. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 5.


Format: Hidden Dual
Four Spartans will compete in the three-day event by evening out numbers for all matches.
Friday, Nov. 3 starting at 12 p.m. – Liberty vs VCU, William & Mary vs Richmond, Georgetown vs Marshall.
Saturday, Nov. 4 starting at 11 a.m. – Liberty vs Marshall, Richmond vs Georgetown, William & Mary vs VCU.
Sunday, Nov. 5 starting at 11 a.m. – William & Mary vs Georgetown, VCU vs Marshall, Liberty vs Richmond.

Last Time Out:

The Spartans most recently concluded its fall home schedule by hosing the UNCG Invite.
The Spartans went 5-7 in doubles and 10-7 in singles on the weekend.
Olivia Gallagher, Juliana Craft, Lauren Thomson and Alexandra Dodashev led the way for the squad at the invite by collecting two singles wins apiece.
Scouting the Opponents

Liberty – The Flames most recently competed at the ITA Women’s Atlantic Regional. The squad took on 25 different teams at the three-day tournament. Esther Lovato, Maria Julianna Parra Romero and Marina Davtyvan each claimed one singles match in the final day of the event.
Georgetown –The Hoyas most recently competed at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Liberty. The squad went 3-3 in singles and 2-2 in doubles at the event.
Marshall – The Heard last took on the Gamecock Shootout in Columbia S.C. The team closed out the final day of the event going 3-5 in singles and 1-2 in doubles.
Richmond – The Spiders last competed at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Liberty. Richmond is familiar with the Spartans as the squad competed at the UNCG Invite earlier this season.
VCU – VCU also last competed at the ITA Regionals, four Rams competed in the main draw and the doubles pairing of Emma Rizzetto and Tiziana Rizzetto reached the round of 16 in doubles.
William & Mary – The Tribe last saw the court at the ITA Regionals. In the final day of competition, Yu Chen and Hedda Gurholt advanced to the second round of the main singles draw before falling to seeded players. In doubles, Alessandra Anghel and Emma Fernald won their first match, but fell in a competitive second-round contest with a nationally ranked team.

The Spartans will complete its fall schedule by competing in the Wofford Invite in Spartanburg, S.C., from Friday, Nov. 10 to Sunday, Nov. 12.
