ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A Triad football coach is on leave, according to the Alamance-Burlington School System.
Southern Alamance High School Football Head Coach and Social Studies Teacher, Walter Friedrich Hessenthaler, also known as “Coach Fritz”, is on leave with pay. WFMY News 2 reached out to ABSS about why he is out on leave and they said it’s a confidential personnel matter. Coach Fritz has been with ABSS since 2018 as the head football coach, according to the district.
ABSS said he also worked as an Assistant Coach for Southern Alamance High in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Hessenthaler’s leave comes as the football team is set to take on Orange High School this Friday.
