UNCG Cross Country to Compete at NCAA Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s cross country team and one individual from the men’s team will compete in the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships on Friday, November 10 in Spartanburg, South Carolina at the Roger Milliken Center.

USC Upstate will be the host school for the Regional this year. The women’s six-kilometer race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the men’s 10-kilometer event will follow at noon.

ABOUT THE WOMEN

Last year at Regionals, the women took home 29th out of 32 teams.
Jenna Reiter, in her second NCAA Regional appearance, finished 146th out of 228 competitors with a time of 23:09.2.
Vicky Sosa, in her first appearance, placed 174th with a time of 23:49.3.
Camille Carlson, Bella Manfre, and Laila Burk also competed in last year’s NCAA Regional.
The women ran at the Roger Milliken Center on October 14 this year, finishing 13th out of 32 teams at the Upstate Invitational.
Sosa led the way with her 36th-place finish and a time of 18:22.4, while Reiter and Soukup followed in 41st and 69th places, respectively.
UNCG placed sixth overall at The 2023 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships on October 27.
Reiter was the first Blue & Gold across the finish line, taking home 27th overall with a time of 18:36.5.
Sosa was next for the Spartans, placing 32nd with a time of 18:47.2, while Soukup followed taking home 39th out of 79 competitors with a time of 19:02.3.
ABOUT THE MEN

Last year at Regionals, the men placed 20th out of 30 teams, which is the best mark since 2013 when the team posted an 11th-place finish.
Luke Ward competed in his first Regional last year, placing 148th out of 217 competitors with a time of 33:19.3.
This year when the Spartans competed at the Upstate Invitational at the Roger Milliken Center, UNCG finished eighth out of 27 teams.
Luke Ward was the second Blue & Gold to cross the finish line, placing 51st with a time 25:40.5.
The Spartans finished seventh as a team at the 2023 SoCon Championships on October 27.
Ward placed 25th overall out of 81 competitors, clocking in a time of 26:06.2.
UP NEXT
The top two teams and the first four finishers in the race not associated with those two teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, held November 18 in Charlottesville, Virginia at the Panorama Farms.
