Women’s Basketball Welcomes Pfeiffer for Tuesday Matinee

GREENSBORO, NC – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s basketball team is set to continue its home schedule by hosting Pfeiffer on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.

PROMOTION: Education Day: Tuesday’s game will give Guilford County school children the opportunity to watch the Spartans in action.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS

The Spartans recently defeated South Carolina State, 61-30 for a dominating win in their home opener.
UNCG began Saturday’s match with a 17-0 run to never allow the Bulldogs to lead in the game.
Jayde Gamble led both teams in scoring with 13 points, where nine of those points came from behind the arc. Gamble’s three made three-pointers was a new career game high for the junior transfer.
Isys Grady followed closely behind with nine points.
Joelle Davis notched a new career game high of eight points for the freshman.
Yacine N’Diaye and Makiah Asidanya each made their collegiate debut.
Khalis Cain led the team in rebounding with 11.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

UNCG heads into Tuesday’s matchup 1-1 overall.
The Spartans dropped their home opener at App State on Monday, Nov. 6 by just two scoring possessions, 71-65.
Grady leads the squad in scoring this season with 32 points after she recorded a new game high of 23 points against App State to start the season.
Gamble follows closely behind with 21 points over the two games played this season. Gamble also stands out with 10 steals.
Cain stands on top with 16 boards so far on the 2023 campaign.
The Spartans were picked to finish sixth in the 2023-24 SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll, trailing ETSU, Chattanooga, Mercer, Wofford and Furman and coming in front of Samford and Western Carolina.
After Grady’s efforts in the 2022-23 season, the junior was named the 2023-24 SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS

The Falcons will head to Greensboro 1-0 after beginning the 2023 season at home by taking a 70-66 victory over Regent.
The Falcons had three players secure double-digit figures in the team’s home opener.
Alexis Bynum had 16 points, Hannah Isley notched 13 points and freshman Lola Cabaniss-Ali recorded 11 points.
Cabaniss-Ali led Pfeiffer with 12 rebounds.
Head Coach Vontreece Hayes is in her first season as a head coach and with the Falcons this season.
Pfeiffer concluded the 2022-23 season 6-17 overall and 4-12 in the USA South.
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams last met in the 2018-19 season in Greensboro, N.C., when the Spartans defeated the Falcons in a dominating 92-23 victory. UNCG is 4-1 overall against Pfeiffer. The Falcons took the two team’s first meeting back in 1980-81, 74-55, but the Spartans have won the past four meetings.

The Spartans will head to Virginia next to face Radford on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. and No. 8 Virginia Tech on Monday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
