Three Quick Takeaways from Grimsley’s 44-27 loss to Weddington

Below are three quick takeaways from Grimsley’s 44-27 loss Weddington.

  1. Grimsley didn’t have an answer to the power running game of  Weddington in the second half.  Warriors Nick Diamond ran for 119 yards, 52 coming on a 3rd quarter touchdown run to put Weddington up for good at 21-20.
  2. Weddington quarterback Tyler Budge used his legs to pick up critical first downs all night.  The senior quarterback only completed 7 passes for 69 yards and an interception, but ran 11 times for 74 yards and one touchdown.
  3. Whirlies offense gets off schedule and loses rhythm in the last two quarters.  Grimsley put together three impressive scoring drives in the first half only to be forced to punt three times in the second half and score only once.  The offense could just never get going, while Faizon Brandon took sacks and Summers was slowed down.  Grimsley was outscored 30-7 in the second half.
