Tonight we had the Battle at the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse
Final from the Fieldhouse:Game rewind is playing now at GreensboroSports Radio…You can go back and listen to the entire game now, with post game comments from Greensboro Day School assistant coach Robert Johnson, and two GDS players, Will Otto and Addison Newkirk….Playing for you now, at GreensboroSports Radio….
Greensboro Day School boys 59, Caldwell Academy 54
GDS(11-3)/Caldwell(8-5)
This was a Battle throughout, just look at these quarter scores…
End of the First Quarter:GDS 12, Caldwell 9…Halftime:Caldwell 27, GDS 25…End of Third Quarter:Caldwell 43, GDS 40…Final:GDS 59, Caldwell 54…Quite the overall game, and quite the crowd at the Fieldhouse tonight…That building was rocking back-and-forth and so was the score…..Ayden Johnson real tough for Caldwell early, the Jaylen Cross got hot for the Eagles in the second half…J3 Swindell was steady over the course of the entire game for Caldwell….And it was lights out early shooting by Johnson, and he ended up with three 3s for the game…

For Greensboro Day, Addison Newkirk, the former Caldwell Academy Eagle, carried the Bengals in the early portion of the contest, plus senior Will Otto was on his his game in the crucial minutes for the Bengals…Four straight huge free throws for PG Jaden Palmore down the stretch run, and again those four made foul shots by Palmore loomed large in the final outcome of this Battle, and you almost can’t call this a game, this was a true test of will, a true battle…And when you have that true test of will, it is good to have the hard-working Will Otto on your side….

Lots of talent all over that Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse basketball court tonight…..Ahmed Jawo, DJ Workman, Justin O/Neil, and Seth Harris all also played key minutes for Caldwell Academy…Jawo hit the board hard, but he fouled out in the fourth quarter…Caldwell need him available for all 32 minutes…Kohi Strickland, Trace Moffit, Michael Juergens, Julius Messer, and Jagger Emerson with big plus minutes for GDS…Freshman Emerson started the game, and he was playing more like a junior that a freshman…That held his own all night long in this NCISSA Battle…

GDS Scoring:Addison Newkirk 21 points, Will Otto 17, Kohi Strickland 7, Jaden Palmore 6, Julius Messer 3, Jagger Emerson 3, Trace Moffit 2…..
Caldwell scoring:Jalen Cross 16 points, Ayden Johnson 16, J3 Swindell 13, Ahmed Jawo 7, DJ Workman 2, Justin O’Neil 1
In the end, when you study it, Greensboro Day got more scoring off of their bench, than Caldwell, and that can be a big difference in the game…Those two guards were in Backcourt Battle all night long with Ayden Johnson vs. Jaden Palmore…Those two are going to make their presence known…
