UNCG Men’s Basketball to Play High Point & VUL Before Break

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s basketball team will first face Triad foe High Point on Tuesday night at the Qubein Center with a start time of 7:00 p.m. for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

The Spartans will then host Virginia University of Lynchburg (VUL) on Thursday, December 21 in Fleming Gym on UNCG’s campus with a start time of 3:00 p.m.

UNCG is 8-2 overall this season, while High Point is 8-4. The Spartans are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest collegeinsider.com Men’s Mid Major Top 25® and sixth in the Field of 68 Cinderella Top 25 poll.

UNCG fell to non-conference foe Marshall, 72-65, on Saturday, December 16.
Keyshaun Langley tallied a game-high and matched his season-high of 26 points.
He added in six assists, for a new season high.
Kobe Langley tallied a season-high 20 points.
Tim Ceaser notched a game-high and season-high 11 rebounds.


Currently, the Spartans are ranked nationally in the top 50 in five categories: 17th in three pointers per game (10.2), 20th in turnovers per game (9.7), 39th in three-point attempts per game (26.8), three-point percentage defense (38.1), and winning percentage (80.0), 41st in field goal percentage defense (39.6), 46th in assist/turnover ratio (1.46).
UNCG is outscoring its opponents 78.6-70.6 and is averaging 6.6 steals per game compared to its foes who are averaging 4.8 per game.
They are leading the Conference in assist/turnover ratio, field goal percentage defense, and turnovers per game.
Kobe is nationally ranked 18th in assists per game (6.0), 33rd in assist/turnover ratio (3.16) and assists (60), and 44th in steals per game (2.20).
Kobe leads the SoCon in steals and steals per game.
Brown-Jones is nationally ranked 35th in points per game (19.4) and 49th in field goal percentage (57.7)
Donovan Atwell is nationally ranked 22nd in three pointers per game (3.10) and total three-point field goals made (31).
Keyshaun was named SoCon Player of the Week (Nov. 20), and Brown-Jones earned the honor on November 27.
UNCG earned a preseason CollegeInsider.com ranking of 25th and is currently fourth in week five.
The Spartans were voted to finish second in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll and fourth in the Media Poll. They received one first-place vote in the Coaches’ Poll.
Keyshaun and Brown-Jones were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-SoCon team.
The Spartans return eight from last year’s roster, while adding three transfers and three freshmen.


The Panthers were voted to finish seventh in the Big South Preseason Poll and received one first-place vote.
High Point most recently fell to Georgia on Saturday, 66-58.
The Panthers hold the average in points per game over their opponents, 86.5-72.6.
Kimani Hamilton is leading the team with 8.2 rebounds per game, while Juslin Bodo Bodo is second with 7.2 boards per game.
Duke Miles is one of four Panthers averaging double-digit points per game this season with 19.1.
Hamilton is second on the team averaging 14.3, Abdoulaye Thiam is third with 12.3 points per game, and Kezza Giffa is fourth with 12.0 points per game.
Bodo Bodo is averaging 2.0 blocks per game.
Miles is averaging. 4.1 assists per game.
Miles is sixth nationally in field goals (87), while Giffa is seventh in free throws (69).
Nationally, the team is fourth in rebound margin (13.1), fifth in free throws made per game (19.8), 14th in scoring offense (86.5), 15th in rebounds per game (42.92), 21st in defensive rebounds per game (29.17), 28th in offensive rebounds per game (13.75), 36th in scoring margin (13.9) and three pointers per game (9.5).
Among the Big South, High Point is leading the way in free throw percentage, free throws made per game, defensive rebounds per game, rebounds per game, scoring offense, three-point attempts per game, three pointers per game, and turnovers per game.


The Dragons will be facing the Spartans after falling to William & Mary, 99-50, on December 10.
VUL has lost the last 15 games.
Last year, they went 1-19 overall with its lone win against Alice Lloyd 78-66.
Opponents are averaging 107.4 points per game against the Dragons.
VUL is averaging 63.5 points per game this season.

Following the game against VUL, UNCG will take some time off before heading to Austin, Texas to face the Longhorns who are ranked No. 19 in the latest men’s basketball Associated Press poll. The Spartans will battle the Longhorns on Friday, December 29 at 8:00 p.m. EST at the Moody Center on the Longhorn Network
