UNCG Softball Announces 2024 Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team and Head Coach Janelle Breneman announce a full slate of games for the 2024 season.

UNCG who is coming off the program’s seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament and is the reigning 2023 Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular Season and Tournament Champions, will play a variety of teams this season including from 15 different conferences outside of the SoCon.

The Spartans will face five opponents who made appearances in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including South Carolina, Charlotte, Minnesota, UMBC, and Duke. The Blue Devils were the only ones to advance to the Super Regionals.

The 2024 Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament will return to Greensboro, North Carolina for the ninth time since the Spartans joined the Conference. The Tournament will be held from May 8-11 at the UNCG Softball Stadium.

“The Spartans are looking forward to the start of preseason training on January 6th,” stated Coach Breneman. “Our team is excited and is eagerly awaiting the first pitch of the upcoming 2024 softball season. Team 39 trained well this fall and has forged a strong bond. We will be ready to hit the field with determination and a shared commitment to succeed.

“Facing a competitive opening weekend in South Carolina, our team will embrace the challenge, knowing that tough competition only fuels our desire to excel. We obviously love playing at home, but we will face a few challenging weekends and midweeks. I am excited to travel south to Georgia in February, as it allows four of our student-athletes to play in their home state which will be rewarding!

“Our team is committed and determined to work hard and have a lot of fun in the process and throughout the season!”
