Grimsley Boys Starts Fast, Defeat Page 77-57 to stay perfect in Metro 4A

A packed Sawyer Grimsley gymnasium saw the Whirlies start red-hot and build an early 18 point lead to dispense their rivals 77-57 Friday night.  Grimsley guard Nick Keith scored 16 first half points as the Whirlies built a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.  A combination of Page turnovers and hot 3-point shooting allowed the Whirlies to pull away and keep Page at arm-length all night.  Rich Goods had 5 blocks in the first half as Brandon and Trent connected on early triples.  Page trailed 33-16 at the intermission.  Leading by as many 21 points in the second half, Page went on 17-10 scoring run to cut the Whirlie lead to 10 with 3:30 to play.  Grimsley responded with a 9-0 run and cruised to the 77-57 win.  Keith ended with a game high 19 points, while Goods chipped in 18 to go along with 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.  For Page, Jackson Sellers scored 16 and Tyren Martin and Chris Stewart each had 15.  Grimsley avenges an earlier loss to Page 67-58 in the HACO tournament and improves to 11-3 on the season and 5-0 in the Metro 4A.  Page falls to 7-7 and 2-2 in conference play.
