Jamias Ferere was a tear, and he was everywhere for the SG Storm in the first half of play…Ferere hit a stretch where he hit three straight 3s and these were not short-range 3s, he was knocking them from long distance…Jucqarie Love took over in the second half for Southern Guilford, as he posted 19 points after intermission…Love was able to rise above, and there was no Push or Shove, he was moving like a Smooth Dove out there on the hardwoods…

Foul trouble was big factor in this game as Jaylon Bumpass from Smith got in trouble in the first half and had to go sit down for awhile, while the extra fouls were nagging Kenny Miller Jr. and Gavin Palmore from Smith in the second 16 minutes of the contest…

SG proved that they are the team to beat in the Mid-State 3-A Coference, and their Big Three, the J3 from SG with Ferere, Love and Jy Dawkins are on some sort of mission right now, and their goal is to finish the conference regular season Unbeaten…Jy, Jamias, and Jucqarie having taken a bond, and these three want to see SG going for the ‘Big T’, as in Title…

Very good Southern Guilford support coming from their Next Three in McGee, Hill and Brown….Josiah Hill had a very big night for Southern Guilford with big minutes and 12 big points for the Storm…The Smith Big Three that we talk about, Jaylon Bumpass, Kenny Miller Jr., and Gage Lattimore, did not come together they wanted too in the Southern game…

Lattimore was limited to just one field goal, and he had to make his living at the free throw line…Kenny Miller Jr. and Jaylon Bumpass were there, but then again, they were not there, when they got into foul trouble and had to sit down…

Southern is at Eastern Guilford this Friday night, and the Storm will be home against the Dudley Panthers next Tuesday night, all of these upcoming SG special events coming “On the Road to SG Unbeaten Conference Season”…SG wants it and now they have to go get it…SG has wrapped up First Place in the Mid-State 3-A Conference for the Regular Season, but now looming is their shot at the Unbeaten Conference Mark for the regular season…

Mighty busy night tonight down at Southern Guilford High School, there at the house that C.K. Siler built up back in the day…Jeff Carter, the SG AD, and SG Coach Wil Perry made us feel right at home down on Drake Road tonight, and we appreciate it…Hope to get back in there for another game real soon…

Final:Smith girls 75, Southern Guilford 6
Smith(18-2/11-0)…SG(6-15/4-7)
End of First Quarter:Smith 26, SG 1…Halftime:Smith 51, SG 1…End of Third Quarter:Smith 61, SG 3…Final:Smith 75, SG 6…
Smith Scoring:Morgan Smith 15 points, London Haith 15 points, Kalicia Deberry 14, Shamara Rogers 7, Amani Williams 6, Azhareyea Drayton-Gill 4, Aloni Rutledge 4, Ariana Morales 4, Leana Maffet 3, Adreahana Woods 3, Kailia Daye 2…
SG Scoring:Danielle Walker 3 points, Jamiya Covington 3 points…
Southern Guilford was missing their top player and leading scorer Courtney Griffith, and the Storm was almost lost on offense without her…There is a young lady on the SG Storm squad, and her name is Charlee Slaughter, and at times, their(SG’s) score of this game sort of took on an image of Charlee’s last name…

But you have to give credit to Smith head coach Mike Bolton, because he was being very gracious in his player rotation for this game…Smith did not start their regular starters, but everyone that played in the game for Smith got some decent PT/playing time, and for some of the younger guards like London Haith and Kalicia Deberry, they got quality PT, and they all made the most of it, without trying to chase SG out of the gym…

The game was not very competitive at all, but Smith did not let their top players keep their feet on the gas pedal the entire game…Smith would let up a bit, and they used many different player combinations in the contest…The Smith girls are slowly getting used to playing with an assortment of different teammates…

Smith can go in many different diretions with their lineups…Thinking that at least 14 Smith Golden Eagle girls played, and by our book, 11 different Smith girls scored in this game…Smith is getting better, and they know their best competiton will come in their practices for the next couple of weeks, since Smith plays Smith in practice, with the girls playing against each other from their own 15-girl squad, the Smith girls against each other, will be the best and most difficult matchups they can get, until the playoffs hit, and at that point, Smith will need to hit the ground running….

For Smith, Drayton-Gill scored the 1,000th point of her career last week, and a Special Congratulations to Azhareyea Drayton-Gill from the Smith Golden Eagles girls basketball team…

For SG, the Storm were working hard for Coach Michael Cheston, with Jamiya Covington working her tail off, and Danielle Walker, Charlee Slaughter, Saniyah Parker, Ariana Hernandez doing the same…SG misses Courtney Griffith real bad, and that is an understatement right there…Got to get her back in order to maintain the ‘Building Process’….
