Cozart Named Perfect Game Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team’s senior Caleb Cozart has been named the Perfect Game Co-Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Cozart led the Spartans in an opening series sweep against Fairfield this past weekend. The High Point, N.C., native, hit four home runs, scored seven runs, had six hits and 11 RBI in just 11 at bats over the three games. He finished the weekend with a .545 batting average.

Cozart’s four home runs put him in a three-way tie to lead the nation with the most home runs this season. In addition, Cozart is fourth nationally with his 11 RBI and third with a 1.727 slugging percentage.

“This team is special, top down we are deep in every aspect,” said Cozart. “This weekend was just a little taste of what we are capable of. We hope to continue this past weekend into the next game and continue to win ball games.”

Cozart’s Perfect Game recognition is his first time receiving the award in his collegiate career. He also was named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week after his stellar performance in the series against Fairfield.

The Spartans are back at the UNCG Baseball Stadium on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. to host No. 1 Wake Forest. All regular season home games at the UNCG Baseball Stadium are free admission.
