SWG overall scoring:Guglielmo with 13, Everetee with 11, McKenzie Moore with 8, Kennedy Leggett with 4…
For Northern, it was Jasmine going 9-11 at the free throw line, Leena McField was 4-5, Cara Trippett went 4-4, Malena DeLisa was 5-8, and Katlyn Newsome was 1-2…
Northern Guilford(25-1) vs. Southeast Guilford(17-9) for the Girls/Womens Championship on Friday night at 6pm, at Northern Guilford High School…
Northern Guilford connected on six 3s vs. SWG, with Leena McField nailing four from behind the arc, while Jasmine Harris cashed in on two from long range…

NG’s defense was spearheaded by Malena DeLisa out front, and as always, she played like a pit bull, or maybe even a bulldog on Defense…She will make the play for you, and get the steal to set up the deal for Jasmine and Leena…Very good table-setter, Malena DeLisa…

Northern’s defense after the First Quarter was super efficient in this ballgame…NG out-scored SWG, 43-23 after the first quarter of play…

NG got a very good effort from their support players, Cara Trippett, Olivia Bayer, and Kaylyn Newsome…Very important minutes for the Lady Nighthawks, from Trippett, Bayer, and Newsome…NG will see a stern test when they face the SEG Falcons on Friday night in the finals…

SEG has been rolling lately, led by Morgan Odom, Jasmine Riggs, Sophie Stevens, and Logan Erhardt…The support players from both teams, will be very crucial parts of this Title Tilt…

A couple of extra stars in my back pocket for McKenzie Moore from the Southwest Guilford Cowgirls…She plays with passion and emotion, and she gets you plenty of rebounds on the offensive and defensive ends…She just needs to work on finishing a bit stronger around the basket…Got to get those put-backs, and for sure, know when to go up, and also know when to pass it back out front…Moore is a mover and a shake on the Metro 4-A Conference…

Grimsley boys 63, Page 55
GHS(20-5)/PHS(15-11)
Very big battle here…You can LISTEN BACK to this game now at GreensboroSports Radio
Eno of First Quarter:Grimsley 15, Page 14…Halftime:Page 37, Grimsley 30…End of Third Quarter:Grimsley 45, Page 44…Final:Grimsley 63, Page 55
Grimsley went 13-17 at the Foul Line…Page was 11-13…
Richard Goods with 22 points, and Nick Keith with 21 pts. to lead the Whirlies…Goods with at least 7 blocked shots in this contest…Jackson Sellars with 20 points, and Tyren Martin with 13 to pace Page Pirates…
More on this game on the way…
Page built up that seven-point halftime lead, going up 37-30 at the break…Page could hang with that advantage…The got that advantage, when Luke Webb hit a left-side three, and that shot to close out the first half from Webb, came after the Pirates’ Jayden Lee had just hit two big free throws, and that gave Lee a 6-6 shooting night from the charity stripe in the first half of play….Only problem for Lee and Page is that Lee never went back to the FREE spot in the game…6 for 6 in half number one, and then he never got back there, in the second half…

Grimsley played it very smart…They never let the Page lead get too big…Grimsley stayed in the game, by hanging around and making this game real close…Tyren Martin was blazing for Page, with nine first half points…He only added four more points, on a couple of shots from the field, and he had to settle for 13 points on the evening…

Richard Goods helped hold it together for Grimsley in the first half, as he led the Whirlies in scoring with 16 points, before the halftime break…Seventeen second half points for Grimsley’s Nick Keith, and he was hitting pullup jumpers, free throws, layups, and also staying very busy, while getting into the Page Pirates’ wheelhouse…

Between Goods and Keith, they produced 43 of the 63 points scored by the Grimsley Whirlies in this contest….Grimsley did get a nice nine-point boost from guard Henry Trent, who loves to live and die by the three….Faizon Brandon and Richard Goods teammed up to give the Grimsley Whirlies a very stout front line, and Goods must have blocked at least seven(7) in this game, and a few of Goods’ blocks were of the Throw-Down version, with invites going out to all of those in attendance at the game, who might want to come out and try and get past Richard Goods, in a friendly game of Horse Radishes…

Like I have said before, if you put Goods, Brandon, and Bryce Davis in the Grimsley triangle, back there protecting the rim and the basket, and you have what the Basketball Security Guards call a defensive LOCKDOWN….Lock it down, and you won’t be getting much quality foot traffic back there in the lane, where those three Whirlies are at, unless you show them you show them your personalized Shaquille O’Neal Papa John’s Pizza card…

That becomes a sturdy LOCKDOWN when you have Goods, Brandon, and Bryce Davis back there together…And there are not too many players around that will be willing to take straight at Richards Goods on a drive to basket…You might want to change your approach, or your pace, if Goods is looming along the back part of the Grimsley Whirlies’ defensive lineup…..

Friday night at 7:30pm, you’ll find the Grimsley boys(20-5) vs. the Southwest Guilford Cowboys at (21-5) for the Metro 4-A Conference Championship in the final game for this week, at Northern Guilford High School…The two teams split during the regular season with Grimsley winning at SWG, 81-68, and Southwest winning at Grimsley, 80-72…SWG on an offensive tear in recent games, going with 80, 91, 93, and 91 points scored over the Cowboys last four games…SWG averaging 88.7 points per game, over the Cowboys’ last four games….

Going to be a very big night, as a boys/men’s team and a girls/women’s team will be crowned Champions on Friday night, out there on Spencer-Dixon Road, at Northern Guilford High School….
