ATLANTA, GA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team walked off with an 8-4 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday at Mewborn Field in the I-75 Tournament before falling to host Georgia Tech, 6-2.

Game 1: UNCG 8 – Robert Morris 4

Robert Morris put the first run on the board with two outs tallying back-to-back doubles as Catalina Saxen drove in Meadow Sacadura for a 1-0 lead.

The Colonials extended their lead to four with three runs on three hits in the top of the fourth. Avery Winchell hit a leadoff triple and Alaina Koutsogiani drove her in with a single. With the bases loaded, UNCG got the first out on a force at home, but Robert Morris was able to capitalize on the opportunity and scored two runs following that out for the 4-0 advantage.

After the Colonials stranded one runner on in the top of the seventh, the Spartans utilized the home advantage to take last at bats. Maycin Brown led things off with a single to center field. After an error that put runners on second and third, Jessie Shipley hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at four. Following the second out, Jorde Chartrand walked to load the bases, and on the first pitch of Samantha Beck’s at bat, she crushed the ball to center field for a walk-off grand slam to secure the win, 8-4.
