UNCG Men’s Basketball Hosts VMI for Senior Day, Travels to ETSU for Regular Season Finale
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s basketball team will conclude home regular season play by hosting VMI on Wednesday, February 28 at the Greensboro Coliseum with a start time of 7:00 p.m. This will be the Spartans’ senior night where they will honor four seniors prior to the game.
Following this game, UNCG will travel to ETSU for its regular season finale on Saturday, March 2 with a start time of 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The Spartans are 20-9 overall this season and 11-5 in The Southern Conference (SoCon). VMI is 4-25 overall and 1-15 in the SoCon. ETSU will face The Citadel before hosting the Spartans, and the Bucs currently have a 14-15 overall mark and 6-10 SoCon record.
Samford won the regular season title outright last weekend. UNCG is currently tied for second in the SoCon with Chattanooga, but the Spartans have the tiebreaker because of defeating Furman twice this season.

The Spartans most recently fell to Mercer in Macon, Georgia 86-72.
Three Spartans tallied double figures.
Keyshaun Langley paced UNCG with 19 points, while Mikeal Brown-Jones had 15 points and Joryam Saizonou chipped in 12 points.
Kobe Langley registered eight points and a game-high four assists.
Brown-Jones and Donovan Atwell each had a game-high six rebounds.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG earned its 20th win this season after defeating Western Carolina.
This was Mike Jones’ second season out of three winning 20 or more wins with the Spartans.
It is his seventh season out of 13 reaching 20 or more wins as a head coach.
The Spartans are ranked fifth nationally in three-point percentage (39.5), 15th in three pointers per game (9.9), 35th in field goal percentage defense (40.8), 41st in effective field goal percentage (0.544), 49th in three-point attempts per game (25.1).
UNCG leads the SoCon in two statistical categories: field goal percentage defense and three point percentage defense.
Kobe is nationally 12th in steals (64), 18th in assists (167), 19th in assist/turnover ratio (3.09), 21st in steals per game (2.21), and 26th in assists per game (5.8).
Kobe is leading the SoCon in assists, assists per game, steals, and steals per game.
Brown-Jones is nationally ranked 21st in free throws (147), 28th in free throw attempts (185), 44th in points per game (19.5).
Atwell is a key player from behind the arc nationally ranked 21st in three-point percentage (41.2) and is leading the SoCon.
Keyshaun earned his second SoCon Player of the Week award (Feb. 5 and Nov. 20), and Brown-Jones earned the honor on November 27 and January 22.
The Spartans were voted to finish second in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll and fourth in the Media Poll. They received one first-place vote in the Coaches’ Poll.
Keyshaun and Brown-Jones were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-SoCon team.

VMI is nationally ranked 33rd in defensive rebounds per game (27.55).
Taeshaud Jackson II is nationally ranked seventh in rebounds (299), 10th in defensive rebounds per game (7.62), 11th in rebounds per game (10.3), and 45th in double doubles (9).
Opponents are outscoring the Keydets 81.8-69.6.
Opponents are also outrebounding VMI 39.2-37.1.
Brenna Watkins is leading the team by averaging 15.2 points per game.
Three other Keydets are averaging double figures, including Tyran Cook with 12.7, Koree Cotton with 12.3, and Jackson II with 10.0.
Jackson II is pacing the Keydets with 10.3 rebounds per game.
The Keydets’ lone SoCon win is against The Citadel, 70-63.

From 2016-24, UNCG has won 12-straight games against VMI.
UNCG last defeated the Keydets on January 31, 2024 in Lexington, 85-79.
SCOUTING THE BUCS
ETSU is coming off a loss to Samford, 87-71, on February 24.
The Bucs have won one of their last five games, the 82-69 victory was over VMI on February 21.
The Bucs have the slight edge over their opponents in scoring, 70.0-69.6.
ETSU is averaging 7.4 steals per game, compared to its opponents who are averaging 6.6 steals per game.
Three Bucs are averaging double figures, including Ebby Asamoah who is pacing the team with 15.1 points per game.
Jaden Seymour is averaging 15.0 points per game and Quimari Peterson is averaging 13.0 points per game.
ETSU is pacing the SoCon in blocks per game (4.9), and offensive rebounds per game (13.69).
The Bucs are nationally 13th in offensive rebounds per game, 26th in blocks per game (4.9), and 42nd in three-point attempts per game (25.4).
Jadyn Parker is leading the conference in blocks (67) and blocks per game (2.31). He is nationally ranked seventh and 15th, respectively.
