High School Basketball Tonight with Round Two Playoff Finals:Northern Girls(28-1) surive the “Battle on Spencer-Dixon Road”, taking down Ardrey Kell with Harris, McField, DeLisa, Bayer, and Trippett leaving nothing laying as those Five Felt the Drive Come Alive at “The Hawks’ Nest” and MORE Scores(Grimsley, SG boys/Both Smith teams/HPA girls and more)

In what I will call from my vantage point, “The Game of the Night”, it was the Northern Guilford girls 74, Ardrey Kell Knights 70, in a true “Battle on Spencer-Dixon Road”…#5 Northern Guilford girls(28-1) now on to Round Three next Tuesday night, at #4 Myers Park, to face the Mustangs(26-2) in Charlotte….

Leena McField with 30 points for NG, with Leena going for two 3s and she hit 12 Free Throws…Seven key free throws down the stretch for frehsman McField…Senior Jasmine Harris(19 points) connnected on 9 foul shots for the NG Nighthawks, while Carr Trippett hit 4, and Olivia Bayer had 2 FTs…That’s 27 made Free Throws for the NG Nighthawks…

Northern had an early 16 point lead on Ardrey Kell and the Nighthawks went up by 11 at the end of the first quarter, led by 9 at halftime, and saw their lead cut to 2, 54-52 at the end of the third quarter…Northern trailed by 3 points in the fourth quarter, but somehow the Nighthawks found a Will, and a Way to Win…
End of First Quarter:NG 21, AK 10…Halftime:NG 38, AK 29…End of Third Quarter:NG 54, AK 52..Final:NG 74, AK 70…

Just unreal Defense by NG early on, the Defense really was what set the tone, and in the end, won the game for Northern Guilford….The last key play of the game, was Cara Trippett tying up Ardrey Kell and forcing the Knights to travel, and the ball went over to Northern, and then Game-Set-Match for the Nighthawks…

Defense, Defense, Defense, YES….’Little Harris’/Jasmine Harris, The Combo ‘Bulldog and Pitbull’ Malena DeLisa, the girl from left field/Leena McField, and the “New Hawk in the House”, and YES that would be Tripping, Tripping, Tripping Cara Trippett…You wasn’t tripping, that was Cara Trippett making those big 3s and playing that lockon “D”…Leena McField left them laying in left field and in right field, pick your spots…Jasmine would pull her team together, and Jasmine would say, “Hey We Got This”…

And the Northern fans gathered there tonight for the “Battle on Spencer-Dixon Road”, were saying to themselves, “Hey We Do Got This”….

Northern got it done to the tune of that 74-70 Second Round victory, and the Nighthawks overcame a very tough Ardrey Kell team, that got rolling a bit late, but once they got rolling, Ardrey Kell was almost ready to take the Spencer out of Spencer-Dixon Road and I know what they were trying to do…Ardrey Kell was trying to make it just “Dixon” Road…Looking to do it honor of their coach, La’Tavia Dixon…Coach Dixon and her girls hung in, and they were looking to steal the win…Molly Burns and Karly Glahn with 17 points each to lead Ardrey Kell…It was 16 points from Autumn Washington and 15 out of Skler Fleck to pace Coach Dixon’s Knights…(Twenty-one made FT’s for Ardrey Kell.)

Kell finishes at (22-6) for the season, and Northern Guilford moves on to face Myers Park on Tuesday night, a Myers Park Mustangs team that Ardrey Kell defeated 53-51, last Friday night in Overtime…

For a while, I thought our game, you know, “The Battle on Spencer-Dixon Road” might be headed to Overtime, but the NG girls persevered, and they took the victory over Ardrey Kell and NG not only defeated AK, they also were able to overcome the three players that were wearing the black and white shirts…

Those guys had one call that tested us all, with a player receiving three free shots after a foul was assessed on a Northern player after a two-point shot, about five feet from the bucket….Things in this game kept going Over-and-Back, and when we thought the smoke was clearing, here comes a technical foul for an emotional reaction to hard-earned shot, that came with a foul call…Don’t ask me what was up, I kept thinking to myself, don’t let something like that take the game away from you…As was said on the old Saturday Night Show, “What’s Up With That”, “What’s Up With That”, “What’s Up With That”….

Northern Guilford gets the win, and their girls handled it well…Had a nice big lead early, let it slip away, fell behind late, but battled back to get what was rightfully theirs…

Nice win on Spencer-Dixon Road, and the “Battle on Spencer-Dixon Road” is done, and it has been won by the Good Girls…NG 74, AK 70…And I really think we had the “Game of the Night”…Any arguements??? Wherever Andy and his team(Nile Harris, Don Tilley, Mr. X) or others go, it seems like it is GAME ON, and Look Out….

The NG-AK game is playing back now on GreensboroSports Radio, and you hear the game action, plus our Post Game Interviews with NG Coach Josh Evans, plus players Jasmine Harris, Olivia Bayer, Cara Trippett, Melena DeLisa, and Leena McField….Check it out now on GreensboroSports Radio….We think you will like the action, on GreensboroSports Radio….
