Brewer Ties Program Record with Three Homers in Win Over High Point
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team earned its first road win of the 2024 season with a dominating 13-7 victory over High Point on Tuesday at Williard Stadium.
According to our records, Aidan Brewer tied the UNCG record with nine RBI and three home runs in a single game tonight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans struck first in the game after Brewer homered to right field for a grand slam, scoring Luke Holland, GC Jarman Matt Venuto and himself, putting the Spartans up 4-0 in the second inning.
Brewer came right back up to bat again in the third inning, adding another grand slam bringing in Jarman, Venuto, Jake Ogden and himself for the 8-0 lead over the Panthers.
High Point responded by putting up five runs in the fourth inning. First, Brett Ahalt singled to right field for two RBI and then Justin Ruiz homered to left center for three RBI (8-5).
Jarman added another run for the Spartans in the fifth inning, scoring off a wild pitch. The Spartans scored again in the sixth inning after Ogden singled to left center, bringing in Jeremy Wolf (10-5).
In the seventh inning, Brewer recorded his third homer, going to left field to tie the UNCG record and giving the Spartans the six-run lead (11-5).
The Spartans added their final two runs in the eighth inning. The first coming after Jarman singled through the left side to bring in Wolf and the second coming off a run from Ogden (13-5).
The Panthers were able to add two more runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it wouldn’t be enough to keep UNCG from walking away with victory and never allowing the Panthers to lead.
