The Bishop McGuinness Villains hosted the Murphy Bulldogs in a NCHSAA Sweet Sixteen matchup on Tuesday night. The Villains set the tone with a strong defensive effort to hold the Bulldogs to 3 1st quarter points. Murphy fought back with a flurry of 3-pointers but Bishop remained steady and built on their lead in the 3rd quarter to seal the victory. The Villains were led by senior John Campbell who had 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Juniors Nicholas Graves and Alex Waterfield added 10 points and 2 rebounds (Graves also had 4 assists). Senior Cal Barrett contributed with 9 points and 2 rebounds.
Bishop will travel to the #2 seeded Corvian Community in Charlotte on Friday night in an Elite Eight showdown.
