GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will continue on the road by facing No. 10 Clemson in a weekend series from Friday, March 8 to Sunday, March 10 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
The Spartans opened up their 2024 road schedule with a dominating 13-7 win at High Point on Tuesday, March 5.
Aidan Brewer tied the UNCG record with nine RBI and three home runs in a single game against the Panthers.
The Spartans recorded 13 hits to the Panther’s eight.
UNCG posted 12 RBI to High Point’s seven.
Brewer led the team with three hits.
GC Jarman paced the squad by recording two walks.
Jarman led both teams with 13 total putouts.
Starting pitcher, Julien Peissel threw four strikeouts, while closing pitcher, Brandon Hudson posted three strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG heads down to Clemson with an 8-4 overall start to the 2024 season.
The Spartans currently rank in the top 20 nationally in four categories: HBP (30), sacrifice bunts (9), stolen bases (32) and stolen bases per game (2.67).
The team’s 32 stolen bases this season is second in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
Noah Chapman is currently fifth in the conference with a 2.25 ERA.
Matt Venuto stands out at 17th nationally with seven HBP this season.
Jeremy Wolf is ranked third nationally with a 1.10 stolen bases per game average.
Caleb Cozart was named SoCon Player of the Week and the Perfect Game Player of the Week after hitting four home runs in the season opening series against Fairfield.
Cozart is seventh in the nation with a 1.91 RBI average per game.
Peissel was selected as the SoCon Pitcher of the Week after starting off on the mound in UNCG’s win over No. 1 Wake Forest on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
UNCG was tabbed to finish sixth in the 2024 SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Rob Ready was named to the Preseason All-SoCon second team.
The Spartans finished the 2023 season with a 25-34 overall record and 9-12 in SoCon play to earn the sixth spot in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UNCG concluded the season in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament, falling to No. 1 Samford, 9-5.
The Spartans welcome 22 newcomers for the 2024 season: 10 transfers and 12 freshmen.
18 Spartans return from last season for UNCG.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
No. 10 Clemson heads into the weekend with a 10-1 overall record.
The only loss for the Tigers this season came in an 18-1 loss to Kennesaw State in Clemson, S.C.
Clemson most recently claimed an 8-3 victory over Kansas State on Wednesday, March 6 at home.
The Tigers are ranked nationally at 11th with a 2.18 home runs per game average and 17th with 24 home runs on the season.
Aiden Mathes stands out at 31st nationally with a .580 on base percentage.
Andrew Ciufo is 21st nationally and second in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with three sacrifice bunts.
Blake Wright is leading the Tigers with 15 runs this season.
Cam Cannarella paces the team with 12 RBI.
Tristan Smith stands out on the mound with 20 total strikeouts on the season.
Clemson was picked to finish second in the 2024 ACC Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll, with one vote for first place.
