Clemson Defeats Baseball, 12-5
CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team dropped a 12-5 contest at No. 10 Clemson on Friday at the Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans tallied the first runs of the game after recording four consecutive runs in the bottom of the second. First, Mitchell Smith singled to left field to bring in GC Jarman. Zachary Walsh added another run with a single up the middle to send Aidan Brewer home. Trey Truitt gave the Spartans their third run of the day after sending a single to right center to bring in Smith. UNCG recorded its fourth run of the game after Jeremy Wolf singled to right field, bringing in Walsh.
Clemson responded with a total of eight runs in its half of the second inning. The Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning (10-4).
UNCG posted its final run of the game in the fifth inning after Caleb Cozart tripled to right center to send Jarman home (10-5).
The Tigers added two more runs in the game, one in the fifth inning and lastly in the seventh inning for the 12-5 win.
NOTES:
Jarman led the Spartans with two runs.
UNCG had zero errors in the game.
Cozart made his season debut on the mound by recording three strikeouts.
