SoCon Announces Men’s Golfer of the Week Award

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf graduate student Noah Connor has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Men’s Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Connor finished atop the leaderboard for the Spartans with a six-under-par (210) to finish in a tie for eighth place at the Sea Island Invitational from Monday, March 11 to Tuesday March 12. Connor opened up the three-round tournament with an even par (72) and then shot back-to-back rounds of three-under-par (69) to close out the event. He led all individuals on the course with a 2.67 average on par three’s.

“It’s really cool to get this award during my final semester here,” said Connor. “We’ve had a good season so far as a team and I hope we can keep it going.”

The Reidsville, N.C., native’s award on Wednesday is the second SoCon weekly mention of his career. Connor is the third Spartan to earn a conference weekly award this season. Symon Balbin and Randall Hudson were both tabbed SoCon Golfer of the Week during the 2023-24 season.

The Spartans will compete at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga., at Great Waters Golf Course from Sunday, March 17 to Tuesday, March 19.

She wrapped up the tournament with a final round two-over-par (74) score and tied for first with 12 birdies at the tournament. Romfo was one of only six golfers to reach par or better over the three-day event.

FROM ROMFO
“It is nice to see a lot of hard work paying off! I think by keeping my approach simple and doing the basic things well, helped me stay consistent last week. I’ve been working really hard on getting quality reps in during practice so that I can have confidence in competition. I’m looking forward to finishing strong in our next few events this season!”
