Got some inquiries over the past several days about what has happened to Amanda Ferguson, from over at WFMY TV 2 Sports…
She/Amanda Ferguson was the WFMY TV 2 Sports Director, and a good one at that, but like about two weeks ago, on a Thursday night, she told Chad Silber(news), Sydney Moore(news), and Tim Buckley(weather) that it was her last night…
On that Thursday night, those of us that were tuned in, saw her last Sportscast…That was it, and she told her colleagues, that she wasn’t sure where she was going next, or what she would be doing next…

Amanda Ferguson is GONE…Very attrative young lady, with a great smile, and she was very dedicated to bringing us as former WFMY TV 2 Sports Director Charlie Harville used to say, “The Best in Sports Today”…
Amanda Ferguson gave us her “Best in Sports” each day/night, and we will miss her, and we do already…Lauren Walsh left WXII TV 12 a while back, and she is now in Nashville, Tennessee and she is doing heavy coverage on the Tennessee Titans…
Lots of former WFMY TV News 2 Sports Directors, and we can now add Amanda Ferguson to that list, which includes recent Sports Directors like Patrick Johnson and Liz Crawford, and others from the past such as Mike Hogewood, Charlie Harville, Woody Durham, Mark Concannon, Sam Crenshaw, Hub Burton, Johnny Phelps, and MORE….
Channel 2 also dropped Channel 2.5 from their UHF group of stations, and that used to be a pretty good station which carried the Circle Network, out of Nashville…WFMY Channel 2.5 is now just DARK…
You left out Greg Kerr……he was loved in the area for years
Greg Kerr, was he the guy that left and moved to Texas??? I think he had his WFMY TV 2 Sports team of Greg Kerr, Rick Pizzo, and Noel Glagow…Pizzo left and went to the Big Ten Network, and Glasgow went back to Tennessee, I do believe…
They also had a former News man from WFMY and from WXII, Bill Logan, doing the sports for a while back in the day…The Logan experiement did not work out too well..
I’m thinking Liz Crawford took over after the Greg Kerr group left…
She was doing WFMY TV 2 News before she switched to sports…She was married to the weatherman…I think they left for Florida and they are now in Philadelphia….Her husband, the weatherman, his name was Grant Gilmore…
Anybody got any more News 2 Sports history or lore…The guy doing the sports now since Amanda Ferguson left is Jason Gilkey, I do believe, and they have brought back Sean Higgins to help, and that Sean Higgins is a walking Carolina Panthers encyclopedia…

Charlie Harville was the BEST sports director at Channel 2 and I would rate Woody Durham as #2.
