South Florida Takes Game Two Over Baseball

TAMPA, Fla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team dropped game two of its series against the University of South Florida on Saturday at the USF Baseball Stadium, 6-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
South Florida got on the board first with one run a piece in the second and third innings to take the 2-0 lead over UNCG. The Bulls added two more runs with two consecutive homers in the fifth inning (4-0).

The Spartans got on the board in the sixth inning with two runs. First, GC Jarman doubled to center field to bring in Jake Ogden. Right after, Aidan Brewer flew out to right field to send Caleb Cozart across home plate (4-2).

South Florida quickly responded with its two final runs of the day in the sixth inning, taking the 6-2 lead over UNCG.

UNCG tacked on another run in the eighth inning after Jarman singled up the middle to bring Trey Truitt home (6-3).

The Spartans cut the deficit to one in their final inning of play by scoring two runs. Trey doubled to left field for two RBI, scoring Ogden and Mitchell Smith. However, South Florida’s Chandler Dorsey closed out the inning with a strikeout to hang on for the save.

Trey and Jarman paced the squad with two RBI apiece.
Jay Miller led UNCG on the mound with six strikeouts.
