********Greensboro Grasshoppers were looking flat, but Hudson Head said, don’t go to bed cause we’re not dead, while Lonnie White had a stick of Dyno-Mite, and the Hoppers pull off an improbable win on Saturday night, at FNB Field********

Final score from had to be the Baseball Game of the Week, the Game of the Month, and the Game of the Year, so far in the state of North Carolina…

That score reads:Greensboro Grasshoppers 6, Greenville Drive 5
Sounds like your basic one-run win, but this was one of those rare Improbable and Unbelievable finishes…The defintion for Improbable is:unlikely to be true or to occur…But as our wrestling brother Kurt Angle used to say, “It is True, Yes it is True”…

Greensboro Grasshoppers were down 5-0 to the Greenville Drive going into the the bottom of the eighth(8th) inning, but Greensboro got a walk from their LF Hudson Head, then DH Jack Brannigan got hit by a pitch and the Hoppers had two base runners for CF Lonnie White with one out, and White goes with a Fly Ball to right, and it was out-of-sight, like a Stick of Dyno-Mite, and the ball was gone out of the stadium on a 8:47pm flight….A three-run Home Run for Lonnie White, and this Grasshoppers team that had not scored a single run over 16 straight innings going back to Friday night’s game, but now the score was Greenville Drive 5, Greensboro Grasshoppers 3, going to the ninth inning…

In the ninth inning, for the Hoppers, Rodolfo Nolasco got the leadoff walk, the Josiah Sightler singled to right field, and that set the stage for Hudson Head, out of San Antonio, Texas, as the Hoppers’ left fielder was back up and BIG in the bottom of the ninth inning, at First National Bank Field…

Head was ready, and Hudson Head said, do not go to Bed, casue we are not Dead, and Head then hammered a Three-Run Walkoff Home Run to right field, and the gathered crowd began to roar, Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win Again….
(The team[Hoppers] who could not score a run for 16 straight innings, found the way to rally and tally six runs in the last two frames of this game.)

Final Score after the Walkoff Three-Run Shot from Hudson Head read:GREENSBORO GRASSHOPPERS 6, Greenvillle Drive 5

For Engery, you won’t see much more energy that what we saw out there tonight…One of the greatest wins you will ever see at FNB Field….

Game Report from the Greenville Drive website:
‘Hoppers stun Drive, 6-5 on walk off homer in the ninth
By Stephen Olschanski/

A night after the Greenville Drive (1-1) scored five unanswered to down the Greensboro Grasshoppers (1-1), the ‘Hoppers responded in turn, stringing together six runs in the final two frames to squash a 5-0 Drive lead and even the Opening Weekend series at one game apiece.

Hudson Head’s 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth sealed the 6-5 victory for the ‘Hoppers erasing what had been to that point, a fairly dominating pitching performance from the Drive. Starter Connelly Early spun four shutout innings, relinquishing just one hit and one walk while ringing up six. Cooper Adams’ followed up Early’s success with a three-inning-one-hit relief effort before turning the ball over to Reidis Sena.

Sena’s night would not be as fortunate as his predecessors, as the ‘Hoppers battered him for two three-run home runs including Head’s walk-off in the ninth and Lonnie White Jr.’s blast in the eighth inning which cut the Drive lead to 5-3.

Despite the 5-0 lead early on, much of the Drive’s scoring was the result of ‘Hoppers’ miscues as a wild pitch in the second scored Ronald Rosario, and an error-riddled attempt to gun down a stealing Allan Castro allowed Karson Simas to score in the third for a 2-0 Drive lead.

In the fourth, Simas drew a walk on a passed ball by the ‘Hopper’s Geovanny Planchart with the bases loaded allowing Eduardo Lopez to cross the plate to make it 3-0. Ahbram Liendo, who turned in a three-hit performance in the previous night’s game, followed up Simas’s walk with a soft single to third being bringing in Enderso Lira to boost the lead to 4-0.

Newcomer Caden Rose increased the Drive’s lead to 5-0 in the sixth with his first homer of the year before Greensboro turned the tide in the final two innings.

The Drive return to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against the ‘Hoppers, looking to close out Opening Weekend with a series victory. The series between the two is currently tied at one game apiece.
