– UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s soccer Head Coach Stefani Workman has had the interim tag removed from her title and has been hired as head coach of the Spartan program, Director of Athletics Brian Mackin announced Thursday.

Workman will be the first female to lead the Spartan women’s soccer program, as well as, fifth head coach in the 36-year

This will be Workman’s second head coaching stint since her first opportunity coaching in 2005. She made her debut
as a head coach at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia, a NCAA Division II program, from 2010-14.

“Workman has demonstrated her passion to lead this program through her growth, determination, and leadership during
her time in the Blue & Gold,” remarked Mackin. “She has exemplified the Spartan Way and earned the opportunity to take the helm of the program to the next level. Her knowledge of the sport is vast and her drive to lead our student-athletes both on and off
the field is contagious.”

Workman has been with the Spartans for seven years, first being hired as assistant coach in July 2017 and then being

“UNCG is a special place and the women’s soccer team has a tradition of winning at the highest levels,” stated Workman.
“I want to thank Brian Mackin, Director of Athletics, and Jody Smith, Executive Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman Administrator, for their continued support and belief of me throughout this transition. I am blessed to be given this amazing opportunity
to continue to serve the UNCG community and women’s soccer alumnae, and I will work hard to make them proud. My staff and I will strive to recruit the best young people to compete on a national stage and continue the winning tradition set forth by so many
before us.”

The native of Poca, West Virginia came to Greensboro following a two-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting
coordinator at the University of Dayton. Prior to her time at Dayton, Workman spent one season as an assistant at the University of Georgia. From 2010-14, she was named head coach at Concord University and during the 2008 and 2009 seasons she was with West
Virginia University as goalkeeper coach. She began her coaching career in 2005 as an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati.
