Chattanooga Takes Twin Bill from UNCG Softball
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team dropped The Southern Conference (SoCon) twin bill to Chattanooga on Saturday with scores of 6-3 in the first game and 6-5 over nine innings in the second game at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
Game 1: UTC 6 – UNCG 3
After a quick top half of the first inning, where Salem Ward retired three-straight batters, UNCG’s Brooklynn Maxwell crushed her 13th home run of the season over the left center wall for a 1-0 lead.

The Spartans doubled their lead in the bottom of the second, as Betsy Eatmon drove in Tori Dalehite from second base on a single to left center, 2-0.
Chattanooga capitalized on four hits in the top of the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Mocs scored on a single, a double, and a sacrifice fly.
After a scoreless fourth inning, both teams put up a tally in the fifth. Chattanooga’s run came off a solo home run by Baileigh Pitts, while UNCG added to its score on an RBI single from Jorde Chartrand, 4-3.
The Mocs extended their lead in the top of the sixth with a two-out two-run single to center field from Pitts for a 6-3 advantage.
The Spartans threatened in the bottom of the seventh, but left the bases loaded as Riley Lamb secured the win in the circle for the Mocs, 6-3.

Game 2: UTC 6 – UNCG 5 (9 innings)
Chattanooga scored first in game two in the top of the second on a solo home run from Addy Keylon with one out. The Mocs added another run in the top of the third as Olivia Lipari singled down the right field line to drive in Kailey Snell for a 2-0 advantage.
The Spartans responded in the bottom of the fourth. Maxwell led off with a double to left field and moved over to third on a ground out. On Chartrand’s fielder’s choice, Maxwell crossed home plate to cut the deficit to one, 2-1.
The Mocs broke open the game with three runs on three hits in the top of the fifth for a 5-1 advantage. Maddie Spell came in for relief and struck out the final batter, which left three from Chattanooga on base.
UNCG fought back with two runs in the bottom of the frame cutting the Mocs lead to two, 5-3. With the bases loaded and one out, the runners advanced on a wild pitch, including Rylie Williams who scored, 5-2. Jessie Shipley then hit a long fly ball out to right field for a sacrifice fly, where Tori Dalehite tagged up from third cutting the deficit to two, 5-3.
The Spartans rallied in the bottom of the seventh as Jaden Cheek led off the frame with a solo home run to left field for her first of the season. With two outs, Jessie Shipley extended the game with her own solo home run tying the game at five.
Both teams went down three straight in the eighth, before Chattanooga saw Keylon blast a solo shot over the right center wall for the lead in the top of the ninth, 6-5. UNCG had one base runner in the bottom of the ninth, but the Mocs retired the side to hold on for the win.
