GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team dropped game one of its series against Radford on Friday, 6-4 at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
According to our records, Caleb Cozart recorded his 17th homer of the season, tying the UNCG program record for home runs in a single season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After both teams stayed scoreless through the first two innings, Radford’s Austin Stalker tallied the first run of the day in the top of the third for the 1-0 lead.
UNCG quickly responded with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the third. With Luke Holland on third and Jeremy Wolf on second, Aidan Brewer stepped up to the plate, sending out a sacrifice fly to center field to bring in Holland (1-0). In the next at bat, Jake Ogden grounded out to the shortstop to send Wolf home for the 2-1 lead.
The Highlanders were able to tie the game in the fifth inning with a single up the middle for one RBI. Radford took the three-run advantage in the sixth inning when Stalker launched a home run to right center for three RBI (5-2).
Radford tacked on one more run in the eighth inning for the 6-2 lead.
