Greensboro Grasshoppers Friday Night Baseball Report…
brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner…..

Final from Friday night at First National Bank Field:
Winston-Salem Dash 13, Greensboro Grasshoppers 3
WP:Manuel Veloz(3-0)
LP:Wilber Dotel(1-1)

Dash' line- 13-3-0
Hoppers' line-3-5-2

Greensboro Grasshoppers(14-10)
Winston-Salem Dash(11-14)

Got to throw the tape game on this out the door quickly, or it will drive you crazy all night long…The WS Dash batted around in the 3rd inning and then they batted around again in the 4th inning, sending 18 men to the plate over those two frames…It was a scoreless game after the first two frames, but then we went to the fifth inning, with the Dash on top, 9-0…Don’t like to talk like this, but for all intents and purposes, this game was over…The Dash just wore out the Greensboro Grasshoppers over those 3rd and 4th innings…

Five runs for the Dash in the third, and then four more Dash runs in the fourth inning, and this was beginning to look like a runaway, and it was…In the third, Loidel Chapelli came up with an RBI single to score Wes Kath, then Samuel Zavala connected on a three-run HR to score Calvin Harris, Chapelli, and Zavala…Jacob Gonzalez stepped up next for the Dash, and he went yard with a solo home run, and that gave WS back-to-back HRs in the third, and it also gave them a 5-0 lead, going to the fourth frame…

In the top of the fourth inning, the Dash got four walks and only needed two hits to chalk up four more runs…On those two Dash hits in the fourth, Winston-Salem got a leadoff bloop single from Wes Kath, and later in the inning, Shawn Goosenberg drove home a three-run double, and by the time the dust and smoke had cleared, the WS Dash led the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 9-0….

Winston-Salem tacked on two more runs in the eighth, and added another two scores in the ninth, and you just had to hope that the Dashboard was full of runs on Friday, and that the Dash may have used up their allotment of run-scoring chances with their 13-3 smashing of the Hoppers on Friday night…Here’s hoping that Dashboard will not be as busy on Saturday, as it was on Friday…You can take a surfboard, a skateboard, but it is tough to stop a well-lighted Dashboard, and we learned that the hard way on Friday night…

Bright spots for the Greensboro boys were few and far in-between on Friday night, but we saw Maikol Escotto smack a Double to center field, and he drove home Luke Brown to get the Grasshoppers on the scorboard in the fifth inning…Got to stay away from that Dashboard, and be sure to get up there on the First National Bank Field scoreboard…Escotto lit up the scoreboard when he crossed the plate, after an RBI single off of the bat of Termarr Johnson…The Hoppers’ Shawn Ross walked and he scored the Grasshoppers last run of the game, with Escotto’s RBI single bringing him in…

There’s not a lot of Greensboro Grasshopper highlights on Friday night, but I do think we should name Maikol Escotto the Player of the Game…Escotto had two hits, he scored one run, and he drove in two runs…The team was only able to find three runs, and Escotto was responsible for two of those runs coming home, and he scored the other one…POG for Mr. E, Maikol Escotto….

Hopper hitters from Friday night…We just uncovered pretty much everything Escotto did, and the rest of the Greensboro Bunch???
Termarr Johnson was 2-5/RBI…Sammy Siani 0-3/BB…Mitch Jebb 0-3/SAC Bunt…Hudson Head 0-2/2 BBs…Shawn Ross 0-2/HBP/BB/Run..Josiah Sightler 1-4/Double…Luke Brown 0-3/BB/Run…

Top Dash hitters:Samuel Zavala 1-4/HR/2 BBs/2 Runs/3 RBI..Zavala with that 3-run Home Run…Shawn Goosenberg 1-5/Double/3 RBI…Goosenberg with his 3-run Double…Jacob Gonzalez 2-4/HR/BB/2 Runs/3 RBI…Loidel Chapelli 2-5/BB/2 Runs/RBI…Bryce Willits 2-4/BB/Run…Carlton Harris 2-5/2 Runs…

Dash starting pitcher Juan Carela went four innings out of the chute, and gave up No Runs, on just One hit, with 2 BBs and 5 Ks…Reliever Manuel Veloz was steady for the Dash, and he did get the Win, but he got scuffed a little bit, allowing 2 Hopper runs, on 3 Hopper hits, with 2 BBs, and 1 strikeout..Johnny Ray worked the ninth inning for Winston-Salem, and rolled with 1 run, on 1 hit, with 2 BBs/1 K…

The Greensboro Grasshoppers pitching staff got beat up pretty bad on Friday with starter Wilber Dotel giving up 6 runs, plus relievers Jayden Woods spotted WS one run, Jaycob Deese 2 runs, and Julian Bosnic 2 runs…

Let’s hit the mumbers that show up outside of the box/boxscore…..
