Hernandez Tied for 63rd After Round One of NCAA Championship

CARLSBAD, CALIF. – Kelvin Hernandez of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team completed round one of the NCAA Championship on Friday behind a three-over-par (75) at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

“The atmosphere today at the NCAA Championship was pretty surreal. Coach Dirk and I were headed down to the range to warm up and there was a DJ blasting some music so that was pretty fun, and it helped calm down the nerves heading into the first tee,” said Hernandez. “I was playing pretty good today, and I was playing some steady golf, but I just had two bad swings coming in that cost me a couple of shots but overall, it was a solid round. The course is playing really tough, but it was an amazing feeling having my parents and the coaches by my side and supporting me throughout the whole round.”

Hernandez stands in a tie for 63rd place out of 156 individuals in the field.
