Greensboro Grasshoppers Tuesday Night Baseball Report
brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner…..

Final from Tuesday night, at First National Bank Field:
Greensboro Grasshoppers 2, Hudson Valley Renegades 0
WP:Patrick Reilly(3-4)
LP:Jackson Fristoe1-3)
SV:Luis Peralta(3)

Hoppers' Line- 2-4-1
Renegades' Line-0-5-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(37-26)
Hudson Valley Renegades(33-30)

Greensboro Grasshoppers(37-26) maintain a 1/2(Half-Game) lead over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws(37-27) in the South Atlantic League’s Northern Division, with just two games left to play in the First Half of the SALLY North…Jersey Shore over Brooklyn, 7-2, on Tuesday night, at Brooklyn, N.Y.

On Tuesday night, the Greensboro Grasshoppers got a Tuesday Two-Run Home Run, from Hudson Head, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and Head’s homer put in the Hoppers ahead, and they never gave up the lead, and Hudson helped the Hoppers take down Hudson Valley on Tuesday evening, at FNB Field…The shot to right field by Head scored both Head and Shawn Ross, and that hit helped make sure Greensboro did not take the loss…

Another key factor in the Tuesday night victory, was the superb pitching performance turned by the Hoppers’ Patrick Reilly, where the rigth hander went six super strong innings on the hill, and gave up 0/Zero Runs, on 3 hits, with 3 BBs, and 10 super-big Strikeouts…Reilly was really able to do the LTD thing, and Limit the Damage, and from what we able to see, there was no Damage against Reilly on this night…The only time Reilly really felt a major threat was when the Renegades loaded the bases with one out in the fourth inning, and they ended up leaving the bases Full of Renegades, when Patrick Reilly struck out Oscar Martinez for out #2, and then he got Christopher Familia to fly out to Hoppers’ right fielder Luke Brown for the third and final in the 4th, and the ‘Gagdes left ’em loaded up…
(For the game, Reilly with 87 total pitches, and 54 of them went for strikes.)

So, I guess you would have to say that Hudson Head and Patrick Reilly were the Steak n Shake Players of the Game in this one, and that 2-0 shutout, keeps the Hoppers in front by a 1/2 game in the SALLY North, going to Wednesday morning’s/afternoon’s 12 Noon start….

Head and Reilly, in some ways unlikely heros, but just at those guys go…Reilly leading the Hoppers’ pitching staff in the contest, and laying it out, so Fineas/Finn Del Bonta-Smith and Luis Peralta could finish things off and they did…Great effort all the way around the mound…Reilly for six innings, Del Bonta-Smith worked two innings, and Peralta closed things out in the ninth…
(The Greensboro Grasshoppers pitching staff struck out 15 Renegade batters and walked 5 from Hudson Valley.)

Hoopers at the plate, and did you hear about Hudson Head??? Head goes 1-3/HR/2 RBI and LONG GONE ball to right field, was HR #8 on the season for Hudson Head, and his RBI total climbed to 30, on that two-run clout…Jack Brannigan was back, after missing about 10 days due to a leg injury, but Brannigan was 1-2…Shawn Ross went 1-3/Run…Mitch Jebb goes 1-3…Charles McAdoo 0-3/BB…Lonnie White Jr. went 0-2/BB…

For Hudson Valley, it was Jace Avina who was 2-4/Double…Roc Riggio 1-3/BB…Rafeal Flores goes 0-2/2 BBs…Cole Gabrielson 1-3/BB…Josh Moylan 1-4…

Renegades’s starter, Jackson Fristoe(LP), did not pitch bad, he just got burnt by the Hudson Head two-run HR…Fristoe works 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, on 3 hits, with 1 BB/6 Ks, and he surrendered the Head Homer…

Nice Tuesday night win, with a Wednesday day game on the way, and the Tuesday Time of Game, was a wonderful 2:14….Hard to beat some of those numbers…Reilly 10 Ks, Head a two-run HR, and the TOG of 2:14……
