Greensboro Grasshoppers Sunday Afternoon Baseball Report brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner: Winner Juan Crisp is a catcher turned pitcher for the HV Renegades and Hoppers with Four More HRs but still fall, 12-9

Greensboro Grasshoppers Sunday Afternoon Baseball Report
brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner…..

Greensboro Grasshoppers with four more home runs on Sunday, to now give them 106 long balls for the season, but it was the performance of Hudson Valley Renengade catcher-turned pitcher, Juan Crisp, that became the BIG Story on Sunday afternoon, at First National Bank Field…

Juan Crisp was listed as the third cactcher on Hudson Valley Renegades roster, and he had not set foot on the field over the past week, while the Renegades had played five games in Greensboro, but on Sunday afternoon, he entered the game as the HV relief pitcher in the bottom of the seventh inning, with one out…From there Crisp proceeded to go the remainder of the game for the Renegades, and closed out the final 2 2/3’s frames, and he won the game, for a depleted HV Renegade bullpen…

Crisp had two pitches, the fast one and the slow one, and the Hopper hitters had to guess which one Crisp was going send to the plate next…He did give up a two-run HR to Jack Brannigan, and then a three-run bomb by Luke Brown of the Hoppers, BUT, Crisp got run support from his Renegade teammates, and he ended up being the Winning Pitcher for the HV Renegades…Crisp was able to Limit the Damage enough, to give his guys a chance to win, and they did….

Back-to-Back home runs from Garrett Martin and Josh Moylan, in the Top of the Ninth inning, were the difference-makers in the contest, and allowed the Renegades to go on, and win the ballgame, 12-9…

Another wild note for Hudson Valley, along with catcher Crisp being the Winning Pitcher is the fact that HV’s Martin and Moylan homered twice in the game, back-to-back…They did it in the fourth and ninth innings…Now how often that we might see something like that, and for the HV Renegades, they had five HRs in the game, out-homering the Hoppers, 5-4…

Usually posting the Hoppers main key notes, but we must hit the HV Renegades’ highlight button here:
Top 4th
Garrett Martin homers on a fly ball to center field. Omar Martinez scores.
HV 3,GBO 1

Josh Moylan homers on a line drive to left center field.
HV 4,GBO 1

Top 9th
Garrett Martin homers on a line drive to left center field. Rafael Flores scores.
HV 11,GBO 9

Josh Moylan homers on a fly ball to right center field.
HV 12,GBO 9
(Martin and Moylan, making Mo Money on Sunday, at FNB Field.)

Renegades' Line-12-11-2
Hoppers' Line- 9- 7-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(40-27/2-1)
Hudson Valley Renegades(34-34/1-2)

Hopper hitters for the day:Mitch Jebb 0-3/2 BBs/Run…Jack Brannigan 1-3/HR/2 BBs/2 Runs/2 RBI…Hudson Head 0-4/BB…Josiah Sightler 1-5/Double/Run/SB…P.J. Hilson 1-4/BB/RBI…Shawn Ross 1-4/HR/BB/2 Runs…For Ross it was his team-leading 14th home run of the season on Sunday, and he just tied his Home Run total for 2023 with the Hoppers, with that #14.)…Kalae Harrison 1-3/BB/Run/SB…Luke Brown 1-4/HR/3 RBI…Maikol Escotto 1-4/HR…

We pretty much covered the HV Rendgade offensive firepower earlier, with our look at Martin and Moylan on the afternoon…

That HV Renegade winning pitcher from Sunday, was the #3 catcher, Juan Crisp, and he did his job to Limit the Damage/LTD just enough to give his guys a chance to get the “W”…For Crisp his afternoon went 2 2/3’s innings of work on the mound for HV, while allowing the Hoppers 4 runs, on 2 hits, plus he walked four Hoppers, and struck out three, and he gave up the two Home Runs, going to Brannigan and Brown from the Grasshoppers…Crisp kept is close enough, and by doing that, he gave his men a chance to Win…
