The Kansas City Royals selected North Carolina A&T catcher Canyon Brown in the 9th round of the 2024 MLB draft last night. Canyon hit .310 with an OPS of .906. He connected on 6 home runs to go along with 12 doubles and 3 triples. His 49 RBI’s led the team that finished 25-28 on 2024 season. Brown’s big arm and solid defense helped his draft value. Playing in all 53 games for the Aggie’s this year, Brown caught 15 different pitchers while allowing only 12 past balls. Brown also threw out a whopping 27 of the 30 runners that tried to steal off him to go along with a fantastic .979 fielding percentage. A&T wrapped up a historic day for CAA baseball, as the conference increased its number of players selected in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft to 10 as the first ten rounds concluded on Monday.
