Greensboro Grasshoppers Wednesday Night Baseball Report brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurnance Commissioner: Hoppers see A’ville Tourists take 5-1 Wednesday Win, with 2 Tourist HRs and Hoppers only 1

Greensboro Grasshoppers Wednesday Night Baseball Report
brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurnance Commissioner…..

This reporter saw it like this on Wednesday night, at First National Bank Field….The A’ville Tourists got a solo Home Run, from Anthony Sherwin, in the top of the third inning, and the Tourists took a 1-0 lead in the game, and they never trailed at any time…
(The home run by the Tourists’ Sherwin, did not guarantee a ‘Sure Win’ for Asheville, but it sure helped get A’ville rolling.)

Asheville got two more runs, coming off of a two-run HR from Cam Fisher, in the top of the eighth inning, and that pretty much sealed the deal…Two home runs accounting for three of the Tourists’ five run total, and A’ville out-homers Greensboro, 2-1…The only Hopper homer came in the sixth inning, and it was by Jack Brannigan, his 16th home run of the season..

Brannigan’s home run was a solo HR and it could only get the Grasshoppers within two runs of the Tourists…Even after the nice pop from Branningan, the Hoppers still trailed A’ville, 3-1….Not enough homer power for the Hoppers on Wednesday night…With their two HRs, the Tourists have now homered 120 times in 2024…The one Hopper homer, now gives the Grasshoppers 144 home runs for the season…Greensboro #1 in the South Atlantic League in HRs, and Asheville at #2, behind the Hopper Homer Hitters….

So the HR hepled get the Asheville into the Winner’s Circle on Wednesday….How about the game line story???

Here it comes, Mr. Tisdale….

Final Score from Wednesday night at First National Bank Field:
Asheville Tourists 5, Greensboro Grasshoppers 1…9 Innings
(The Hoppers went 10 innings at Hickory back on Sunday, and Tuesday’s game vs. the Asheville Tourists took 11 innings, before we had a Winner….And on Wednesday, it was back to the basics of Baseball Life, with 9 innings, being the norm.)
WP:Nic Swanson(3-6)
LP:Wilber Dotel(7-4)

Tourists' Line-5-5-0
Hoppers' Line- 1-4-0

Greensoboro Grasshoppers(56-35)
Asheville Tourists(38-51)

We pretty much laid the skinny out on you earlier, with the Home Runs again being a key factor in this game, and in the series….

But at this time, let’s hear from the Hopper Hitters…..Jack Brannigan 1-4/HR/Run/RBI…Termarr Johnson 1-4…Shawn Ross, who had the Game-Winning Grand Slam Home Run on Tuesday evening, went 0-3/BB on Wednesday…Mitch Jebb 1-4/Double…Maikol Escotto 1-2/BB/SB…And now we must stop the presses, because that is all of the offense that we have to report tonight…

Trying to be as well-rounded as possible, let’s bring on the A’ville Tourists batters…..Logan Cerny 1-5/Run…Luis Baez 0-3/BB…Austin Deming 1-4/Double/2 RBI…John Garcia 0-2/HBP/BB/Run…Cam Fisher 1-3/HR/BB/Run/2 RBI…Ryan Johnson 0-3/BB/Run…Luis Encarnacion 1-4…Anthony Sherwin 1-3/HR/BB/Run/RBI…

Winning Pitcher for A’ville, Nic Swanson, worked 6 innings in his start for the Tourists, and he gave up 1 run, on 5 hits, with 1 BB/5 K’s…Swanson threw 90 pitches, and he gave up the solo HR, to the Hoppers’ Jack Brannigan…Greensboro’s starting pitcher Wilber Dotel worked 5 innings, and Dotel gave up 3 runs, on 3 hits, with 4 BB/4 Ks…Dotel gave up the Home Run, to the Tourists’ Anthony Sherwin…

To us, that is how she looked on Wedensday night at First National Bank Field……
