*********GAME UPDATE Note:Smith vs Harding will be played on Tuesday Sept 3 at 6pm at Harding High School in Charlotte…..**********
Just got to say, the Ragsdale Tigers are playing a very exciting brand of football right now…Won last night 21-20 over head Tiger coach Antwon Stevenson’s old team, the Glenn Bobcats, and Tigers took down Northeast Guilford last Friday night, 14-10, and now Ragsdale is at (2-0) to start the 2024 season…
The Southern Guilford Storm got their first win for new head coach Garrett Mills last night, and Southern Guilford is at (1-1) and the Storm got the job done on the road at Providence Grove…The Storm will be at home hosting the (2-0) Western Guilford Hornets next Friday night…..WG at (2-0), Ragsdale at (2-0) and now Southern Guilford with a win??? Are we experiencing sort of Seismic Twist or Turn???
And back on those Hornets from Friday night…..Got to give up the props to WG, and also give Shout Outs to Aaryn Tate and Ashton Timberlake from the Northeast Guilford Rams, and to Timothy Baker the Dalton kid from Western Guilford…Tate was balling and dawging out last night…Big 76-yard TD pass reception called back due a holding call, and he had a kickoff return of about 85 yards that gave his team a chance to win late…And the Dalton kid stopped NEG in the backfield on a huge play down at the WG 5-yard line…Timberlake was running like a waterbug out there…He was a waterbug, doing the jitterbug…And Timberlake was getting big-time gains to give the NEG Rams chances to win at Western…But the WG RB Timothy Baker was running like Jerome Bettis, the former Pittsburgh Steeler and LA Ram, and Baker was getting those hard-earned yards against a tough NEG Ram defensive line/unit….Also got to give Shout Out WG’s Elijah Hayes and Caleb Love one more time, as those two were making it happen and visiting the end zone with key TD Tallies…Again, WG over NEG, 20-14..Big stop late down by the WG goal line, where the Hornets would not let the Rams get in….Coach Timmons is doing some real good things out there at Western Guilford….
from one of our Western Guilford Hornet fans on last night’s game vs. NEG:
It was another wonderful day for some football! The atmosphere at Western was absolutely fantastic, with the band, student section, concessions, cheerleaders, and dance teams keeping the energy high all night long. The Hornets came out strong, swarming around with big-plays from RB Tim Baker, QB Caleb Moore, Elijah Hayes and more. Coach Timmons had his team playing tough and determined football. The defense on both teams was outstanding, making it an intense and thrilling game. The Hornets continued to swarm late in the 4th winning vs the Rams 20-14. Congrats to the Hornets going 2-0!!!!

Here we go, with news just in on the Northwest Guilford win over North Davidson last night…from one of key GreensboroSports.com followers….
Last night Northwest dominated on Defense. It was brutal. I think by the start of the 4th quarter the North Davidson O-line was exhausted and just gave up.
The tackles, TFT, Sacks were coming from all sides…so many I lost count. Collyn Shokes, Rob Lange, Charlie Mitter, Austin Jackson and many more hammered ND Offense. Herb McNeal got his second INT of the season.
For NW Offense Rakem Hammock was amazing!!! So many 5 star catches and moves. Absolutely incredible. Unfortunately NW had several scoring plays called back. The score probably should have been high 30s to zero.**********
Here we go with J. Mike Blake from down at WRALSportsFan.com and their HS OT section on Grimsley taking down Rolesville, at Rolesville…..www.wralsportsfan.com/CLICK HERE to to there…
ROLESVILLE, N.C. — In a game featuring the No. 1 junior in the nation and the No. 1 team in the state, it was a No. 10 that stole the show.
With four catches for 200 yards and two scores, Hudson Cooper’s breakout performance at wide receiver helped No. 7 Grimsley take down No. 1 Rolesville by a 35-20 score on Friday.
How much of a breakout?
He had never had a varsity catch before.
“They had no film on me since this was the first game I caught a pass,” Cooper said. “I was able to beat them on the seam balls.”
Cooper had receptions of 52 and 82 yards for touchdowns. The 82-yard one happened with 4:26 left in the third quarter to make it a three-score game, 35-13.
It was a unique game for Grimsley. Aside from quarterback Faizon Brandon — the Tennessee recruit who is ranked No. 1 in the nation — the only Whirlies to have a catch or carry were Cooper, running back Mitchell Summers (31 carries, 123 yards, 2 TDs), and receiver Kaden Catoe (2 receptions, 35 yards).
FINAL STATS
Passing: Rolesville — Braden Atkinson (12-25 passing, 197 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs). Grimsley — Faizon Brandon (6-of-12 passing, 235 yards, 2 TDs)
Rushing: Rolesville — Amir Brown (13 carries, 98 yards, 2 TDs); Devon Thomas (10 carries, 36 yards); Braden Atkinson (6 carries, -3 yards); Xavier Lewis (1 carry, 1 yard), Johnathan Dunn (1 carry, 1 yard), Riley Daniels (1 carry, -12 yards); Trenten Pressley (1 carry, 1 yard). Grimsley — Mitchell Summers (31 carries, 123 yards, 2 TDs); Faizon Brandon (6 carries, -11 yards)
Receiving: Rolesville — Gavin Waddell (4 receptions, 64 yards); Anthony Roberts (3 receptions, 93 yards); Amir Brown (2 receptions, 24 yards); Jaedon Alford (2 catches, 12 yards); Davis Brown (1 receptions, 4 yards, 1 TD). Grimsley — Hudson Cooper (4 receptions, 200 yards, 2 TDs).
